Gas Oven

Hi just became a member so bear with me! We have a new Jayco Sterling; has a gas oven but temperature not good; read somewhere that you can buy a thermometer to test it. Any hints from fellow Jayco owners or others? We crossed the Nullabor from Mt. Gambier 1st week in July-great trip, saw dozen whales at head of the bight. Based in Perth till mid Nov then head home via Albany. Cheers

Lucky you...heck, I have crossed the Nullarbor several times, and as yet haven't had the good fortune to see the whales..me thinks that when I do it will be time to buy into the x lotto.
I have wife's relatives in Denmark quite close to Albany, and you will find that 6 months will not be enough to enjoy that lovely part of Australia around Perth to the North and down South.
Now your oven..ha ha , I don't know a thing sorry, but most hardware stores carry thermometers ie Webber. which will give you true temps.
Enjoy that 6 month break from the Mount, but nothing is like your own home...Enjoy !

Thanks for your reply; if hubby wasnt working would love to explore more north and south; have done Esperance Busselton etc. but not Albany. Whales will be gone late Nov. but will explore coastline more on way home.No time to go North other than far northern Perth suburbs. Perth great city, plenty to see and do on weekends. Have son here who works on off shore rig so thats why we're here to visit. Intend to head off somewhere else after spending Xmas at home. Should have realised can get thermometers easily!!!!

Yes you can get oven thermometers at most hardware shops or Kitchenware shops..... I found that with the ovens I have had in Vans that they will do a roast but they don't ever get hot enough to do a decent scone, and we chaps absolutley have to have our scones at 1030 & 1530 with lashings of Double Cream and homemade jam...

we have same van ,a sterling 21ft and purchased a thermometer from Kmart, and also  one from ALDI when they came on sale .Kmart has them in their  camp ovens they sell .If your interested we have made several conversions to our van.One being removing the L lounge and replacing it with two swivel arm chairs .Just to brag a bit more we have also built a boat loader which holds a 375 tinnie on a Navara duel cab ute .Just need our comforts .
