Stone shield for caravan

A piece of canvas or 'rip-stop' vinyl in a sailtrack at the top of the van that is flat on the front while travelling (held down by a few tonneau clips), and is pulled out like an awning when parked..........?

Never seen one like that, but should work OK.

I have seen where heavy duty shade cloth has been cut to size, edges reinforced by hemming, and the whole piece is placed under the A frame.
It was then attached to the vehicle towbar & under the A frame with 'bungy cord'. The flexible cord allows adjust when turning etc.
So, all stones hit the underside of the shade cloth and prevent hitting the van.

I have had a padded vinyl cover made that goes over the front boot and all keeps the boot more waterproof as well

Thanks for all the suggestions. I like the shade cloth idea with bungy straps. I will post the results after i have tried some of the ideas

At the Caravan show saw a product call Rock Tammer, fits over the standard Hayman Reece tow hitch for easy removal when not needed . A mate got a set i thought a little costly at around $300.00 They look OK on his Patrol .

I'd be interested to know if anyone has actually tried these Rock Tamers. If they're OK, I was thinking of buying some. You can buy them in chrome for $399 or in black for $359. There are photos on www.rocktamers.com.au

had a look at that website, I think they would work, they obviously bolt on to ones drawbar and the flaps hang off of the bar, anyone with a welder and a couple of truck mudflaps could build these at a 1/4 of the cost, the idea is good and sound, but the price, oh boy!!!
