Hi we are newbies to this site, we are not quite grey nomads yet but have found your site to be very useful thus far. My problem is where to find short term temporary work. I have googled everything I can think of but no luck. I am a registered nurse with 15yrs exp and have done a little bit of everything..ie worked in shops, cleaning, you name I have done it. We are in Yeppoon at the moment and will be heading SWest soon, we have no huge plans but would like to be in Vic by christmas. If anyone can help me with this I would be very grateful..
well Hi there Kylee and a great big welcome to you, as far as work goes we have been chased by it wherever we go, you havent said what you would like to do but I am sure there is always a short term vacancy for a nurse somewhere, my sister in law is a theatre sister/midwife (if that makes sense) and she says something about agencies? I dont know much about them, but they apparently "lease" nurses out to hospitals short term, tried to lease one myself but the dragon found out and threatened to lease me in a position that I would not wish to be leased or was that leash, anyway the other way is just pull in to an area, go to the pub and put the word around, theres always a "farmer" looking for a hand, mostly under the table payment short term harvest work or machine oprations, fruit picking or somesuch, when we were at Arkaroola there was a sign in the ladies loo (apparently, obviously I never saw it) stating that the resort wanted cooks assistants, cleaners and waiting staff, there were vacancies for a couple of handymen as well, short or long term, same in Wilpena apparently, everywhere we travel the work gets offered to us, me in particular as I have experience in a lot of fields I.E. farming and agriculture as well as heavy plant operations, i got to be carefull, dont think much of that work business, interferes with my drinking and recreation time, I know people who just go to a place and within a couple of days they are earning a grand a week each and off to another place for some more and have done so for a very long time, we know others who set off on "the big adventure" only to go a couple hundred miles and settle for the rest of their days as happy as mudlarks, try "googling" the "harvest trail" there is always a harvest going on somewhere, dont take strawberrys though, half an hour on my hands and knees and its a week on my back, heavy plant operating over a long period does that, so just take it as it comes,
