Does anyone know what the name of the book is, that I have heard exists, that lists all the free camping areas?
Cheers, D

Hi Dianne, as Davo (drongoe) has said in the first post the name of the book is actually camps australia wide four, it lists most free camping or low cost camping areas all throughout australia, many more exist and you will find them as you go along but the book is a really good start

DAVO, Camps Australia have 3 publications.
1. Camps Australia Wide 4 (the one you saw). Lists free and low cost campsites all over Australia displayed on a HEMA atlas. Very easy to use. It concentrates on areas most frequented by travellers and is a bit sparce if you get 'off the beaten track'. Also, some listed campsites on popular routes can be very crowded, but this is to be expected.
2. Camp Snaps (pictures of a lot of the campsites in Camps 4).
3. Caravan Parks Australia Wide.

You can buy 1 & 2 in the same book if you want.

They also have a web site that provides updates (things often change), so you can check on sites when planning a trip.

As dave06 said, there is a new 'Camps 5' due out from the printer in January. I don't know how long it will take to get to the shops.

We have been using a 'Camps 3' since 2005. The later ones A4 or bigger B4 size. I would recommend the spiral bound versions because they 'hang together' better with constant use.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Bubs, might be best to wait till the new one comes out, I borrowed my son's and it was great, when I gave it back to him he said it costs around $50 at the caravan and camping show but to buy it in the shops it is around $70.  Now don't quote me on those prices as I haven't actually seen it in the shops.  I'm waiting for the new one.   Quincey
