Here We Go Again-More Money

Just read in the  NSW  Telegraph today that the  Labor Premier has given the nod to lifting the land rate pegging which has stopped local councils going mad with rate rises to fund wish lists for mates and friends, I think they call it paying the piper.  If the world was fair place  and fairies lived in the bottom of my garden   ICAC should be looking into council's dealings  with developers right across the state  .

Repealin the rate pegging legislation doesn't sound like a big deal but  remember  all those caravan parks and camping areas  we pay dearly for now also pay rates  so look out for fee hikes.

It happens with every Labor Government they spend all the tax dollars on the non essential wish lists and then want to pass off their responsibilities to local councils ( You and I Mr & Mrs rate payer  ) to provide what should come from state and federal  taxes.

Many local councils are required to provide low cost housing , meals on wheels  and a host of other state and federal responsibilities without any help from Maquarie street or the lodge .

Wouldn't be a problem if the process of allocating the rate dollars was an open affair  for all to see  and the council's core responsibilities  of roads rubbish  and  water  came first.   We have a $42 million  600 seat entertainment center under construction that  less than 0.03 % of the rate payers wanted in the first place .  The council got the axe we got an administrator but the building is going up along with the price

gawd u think the NSW gov. is a power gone crazy,  our VIC.gov. is running a multi million dollar water pipe line from a near dry GOULBURN river that feeds our food bowl,  to boost MELBS. water supply.  i wonder if its just the votes in MELB. against the more scattered votes of country people.   this all should add up to more imported vegies and fruit    Well done MR BRUMBY looks like the only good brumby is one ya put a saddle on.

On the subject of water  here in Port Macquarie we can wash our cars and boats anytime  but can water the gardens on the odds and evens system.

When council introduced the level 4  water restrictions,  that's no watering between 1000 - 1600  and only allowed hand held hose watering of gardens between 1600 -1800 the water usage went up  as all the oldies  went out every night and watered for the full 2 hours regardless  if the garden needed it or not .

I personally have grave concerns about the processes put forward, by the  infamous and yet to be  clearly identified  experts,  to  harvest storm water  and the measures to be undertaken  to stop seepage from irrigation channels .  Once you take that water out of the natural watering regime then something else has to suffer down the line,  like the ground water table  , river flows  , creeks  and  wetlands all essential to our continued survival  .  The world started off with  X amount of water and there is absolutely no way to make anymore , what we started with is all there is  folks .   Seeing this the driest place on earth maybe we should have put more effort into developing drought tolerant food  and manufacturing  crops  rather than putting all the eggs in the irrigation basket .  Why would anyone in this country grow cotton  for the sake of naming a water hungry  manufacturing crop.
