Greetings,

I've just posted this on the exploroz site in answer to a question and it occurred to me that it may be of interest to GNs who, like me, like to keep up with the news.

(ignore the mis-spelling of reception, just cut and paste) and you'll find a six-page discussion of good radios. I have the AR1745 from Jaycar, which is very good value for money. Also small size (about the size of a packet of fags). It is not the Redsun brand, but it's the same radio, rebranded by Jarcar. Happy listening. wink.gif

mate thanks for that, it's a great site, love the homebuilt aerial its a beauty, I reckon I could hang a few nomads on that one

while we are on the thought of radios, does anyone know anything about those wind up ones, I seen one on ebay for $85 and just wondered

Dave, nothing new in dynamo radios, no doubt you have heard of Mr  Alfred Traeger ????

I saw one today in Supercheap Autospares that had a torch and all the bells & whisltles.
Like the new range of "wind Up" torches they would be ok.....

he was the inventor wasnt he???, so if he could supply all those african villages with one of these things how come they are so dear, they wouldnt have any money surely, or if they did it wouldnt be enough to buy one of these, how do they compare with a "normal" decent quality wireless

I don't have a wind up radio but do have a torch, it will even charge up your mobile phone if you wind it long enough.
