For those travelling into NSW the attached may be of interest , Fancy that NSW actually following the lead of others pitty they don't review a lot more of the current rules to get in step with the world at large

Ah,so before stopping and standing, from dec. we have to make sure that we are not going to stand after we stop. Why not a simple sign that says no parking after you have stopped and you are standing.sorry folks, just trying a bit of humour.cheers Ibbo.Comes the Revoloution.
That's legislators for ya they come from the ranks of lawyers and need to create work for their brothers who aspire to become legislators, those who don't make it can then dispute the finer points in court in attempt to show that their legal brothers got it wrong .
I agree it's hard to stand until you stop and when you are stopped you are standing , now how simple can it be or am I reading too much into it . Wonder we don't just create and install another road sign complete with it's own post and flashing lights
That's like the other one we have in NSW "blinker on to enter as roundabout and blinker on to exit a roundabout " If practicable " now there's a judgment call for you. Collide at a roundabout and the attending officer will make the judgment call for you.
The entire NSW road rule book is full of them ( driver personal judgment calls ) so why bother printing it.
Drivers from out of state be careful we need to plug a $ billion budget shortfall and your money is as good as ours.

the east coast would have to be the most legislated area in aus. here in pirie we have signs that state "oh o.k. park here but just dont be all day alright" out in the centre we seen one that read, "next sign 300kms" got a photo somewhere

As a copper for many years, you would be amazed the number of people who reckon there is a huge difference between "No Standing" and "No Stopping". With the latter there can be no excuse for the drongo who stops on a yellow line and argues " I'm not stopping, I'm waiting for the other half"!
gday lyndsay and welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy a bit of chit chat cos thats what we are all about in here
fully agree there are some drongoes out there, who could argue with a yellow line whether there is a sign or not
but then the other side of the coin is the over legislation, here in pirie we have many side streets that see maybe 40 cars on a busy day. I stopped to get a couple of spares from a little car sales place for an old magna we had years ago, upon return I had this little sheila copper, about 12 I reckon, standing next to my vehicle writing me out a ticket, now this road was deserted, no other cars parked or standing anywhere for miles, no other vehicle on the road just me and her, she was parked on the road alongside of my vehicle booking me, I didnt see the sign, my fault o.k. fair cop, sure, but come on!!! on that road!!!! no yellow lines either, cant see the reason to have the sign there in the first place, but yes I hear you screaming, ITS THERE SO OBEY IT!!! fair enough!! I did wrong and it cost me, but still not happy about it
