 For all those out there NSW  that have trouble with the tiny liitle  roundabouts we continue to install  can you  tell me,   at a
T- Intersection with a roundabout  is the blue car going straight on permitted to enter the roundabout while the green car is  making a right turn  in the  right lane  . Bear in mind that no driver is permitted to change lanes  until safe to do so , 2 micro flashes of a blinker doesn't make it safe as some  feel it  does by creating a force shield  that protects their vehicle.    Ask as many people as you feel you need to and seek legal advice if necessary.

The rules deal  with 4 way intersections in a fashion but not T- Intersection  so the answer may not be there either .

 Interests in all points of view .  I don't know the answer either  so this could form the basis of a rule change

I understood that the law stated tht one gives way to traffic already in the roundabout.The roundabout situation is pathetic.Some roundabouts are about three meteres round,bloody stupid.I find that most problems with roundabouts are caused by the speed some motorists approach a roundabout.Also I believe that the old give way to the right rule is still etched into peoples noggins.A lot of roundabouts have two lanes leading into them but disolve into one lane making exiting a hairy situation if you dont have your wits about you.As for indicators on small roundabouts you need four arms to steer,operate indicators,wave middle finger,or just give pleasant wave.Most traffic back up is caused by the speed that motorists on your right approach the roundabout,in other words you dont have time to merge into the flow of traffic.A large dose of common road courtesey needs to be shown.Cheers Ibbo.

the blue car is permitted to enter the roundabout and continue straight on or turn left at any exit, you may turn or exit at any point providing you indicate and stay in the apropriate lane.

the ruling of entering only a vacant roundabout and giving way to your right is only relevent on single lane roundabouts.

theres a big one just outside hobart and I think from memory it has four lanes all of which can be exited

oh and you are not going straight on, according to my sat nav (naggin nancy) "you are taking the second exit to the left"

If you notice a little silver Nissan Micra at a roundabout "Beware", as that's my wife and she closes her eyes and just goes...

And at peak hour playing Russian Roulette at the roundabout I look for a lady driver in a newish vehicle and zoom, I take the chance, hoping that she is extra careful and scared of being in trouble from hubby if she marks the car...lol

Yep, the blue car can enter the roundabout and can continue provided they do not either go right around the roundabout or change lanes UNLESS it is marked by arrows on the road that indicate the contrary. Now if say the blue car is on the roundabout and stays in it's outer lane and turns right, if it is in front of another vehicle the other vehicle cannot force the blue car to turn off the roundabout because they want to turn off from the centre lane.

If any of you live in the westren suburbs of Sydney and see a silver yaris beware - it could be my mother in law and she has been interviewd by police on many occasions for stopping at green lights. Her rationale is that if there is a red light camera on the other road then if she goes through a green light she may be hit by someone going through a red light......

Here in Port Macqaurie NSW we appear to have reject space cadets in charge of intersection design and construction . It is typical of the PP design when they place a roundabout on a T- intersection and then have a road joining the main road less than 20 mts further down on the left rather than aligning the intersection to make it a cross street . Drivers entering from the right and trying to get into lane find themselves in a pickle . Most just do the old lazy turn right and let it wander over all the lanes to get into the left lane .

Keep the views coming there appears to be as many views on the rights and wrongs as there are roundabouts.
