the air has actually been cleaned up a hell of a lot and it is far better than it used to be when I was working in there, they have this thing called ten by ten which is reducing the lead levels in all aspects

the installation of the stack actually transferred the polution more towards port broughton, which was the smelters answer to all things, build a big chimney and let it draft somewhere that the epa dont moniter, they applied for and received an extension on toxic chemical dumping earlier this year

the pollution that really concerns me is the discharge in to the gulf that is not reported, they have been discharging toxic chemicals including cadmium into the gulf ever since the place began

the epa are well aware of all pollution but do not do anything about any of it until it hits the headlines

not only port pirie but millicent in the south east (apcel) newcastle, port kembla, port adelaide, hobart anywhere there is big business and big money there are big polluters

never mind when I sell up in 2.7 years it wont be my problem

I will keep the hot air rising from my end of town and that way the updraft will clear the air for you grizz

I'm having trouble getting a handle on how this carbon trading Mr Rudd seems to want to claim ownership to. As there appears top be a quid to be made out of it it all sounds a little old boys club to me.

How can planting a tree in the Amazon Rain Forrest help clean up the air in my breathing zone or paying to plant a tree in some far flung place on the other side of the world is going to fix anything when others rip out a football field of trees every 3 minutes 24 / 7.

What I see it meaning is the big companies with the biggest pollution levels will gladly pay a pittance to some third world farmer for the tree planting, probably an oil palm so can then buy the oil back later , and jack up their commodity prices for the rest of the consumers.

What is the intended tree replacement program as once most trees reach maturity they are absolutely useless as a carbon absorber any way and if left to fall of natural causes and rot on the forest floor they only add to the green house gas situation they all reckon we face , more media hype.

So many of these experts have got it all wrong on some many fronts over the years I'm a little skeptical of self proclaimed experts to say the least . Heard the other day on the ABC some expert wanker wanting to have legislation passed to force farmers to change cattle herds diets to reduce them farting.
