It seems as though we are being pushed into using E10 fuel. Most Caltex servos have only Vortex or E10 pumps. Is this happening all over Oz?.cheers Ibbo.
Seems that way..... It's also a good way to do some proffiteering because without straight unleaded to compare with how would you know if the E10 is cheaper as it is supposed to be?

I think Basil is right - a lot of profiteering involved - but in saying we used the E10 fuel for a while thinking it was cheaper. We know use the vortex and we have found that per tank of fuel we get somewhere around 150 kms more than we did with the E fuel - so in the long run although dearer the fuel economy is so much better, and the car runs so much better - so works out cheaper in the end.
At this stage we haven't had trouble actually getting it though.
The whole deal with ULP is really a farce . it takes more crude oil and water , two products we can ill afford to waste , to produce a litre of ULP than any other petroleum fuel.
Another point to consider is the rise of respiratory complaints in kids since the introduction of ULP, is this due to the high sulphur content or a defective gene pool . If we go back through the medical records there is a sound basis to establish a link between the intro of ULP and respiratory distress complaints requiring regular hospitalization. E10 introduces more questions than answers to a fuel shortage argument not least of all increased costs in staple food production and procurement.

Has been lots of persons giving their authrotative discourses on the E10 debate and the consensus seems to be as you have stated that fuel use goes up thus negating any saving at the pump.

Hi Ibbo, yes it is happening, I have travelled from Hervey Bay to Port Macquarie, taken 3 weeks and its dwindling. I won't use e10 in my xtrail. brother who is motor mechanic, says no. Head gasket and valve problems. So Caltex, I drive past. I would say a sign of things to come. Cheers. Barb..
supposedly the e10 does no harm, however I will only use the absolute "best" in little blue she works hard for me and I like to keep her sweet, she tends to "gobble" up more of that ethanol rubbish compared with premium unleaded and she runs sweater but I'm no mechanic
