Mountain Climbing

G'day,

The B.O.S.S. and me have a 15 foot, 1984 Jayco Songbird Poptop and as she is a little long in the tooth I decided the time was right to retension the springs and undersling the axle to gain a little more ground clearance, well bugger me now I need mountain climbing gear to get in the damned thing, but the main reason for this post is I approached a caravan repairer here in the West and was quoted $350 to retention the springs and another $350 to undersling the axle.

Thought this a bit steep as they had to remove the axle to retention the springs and only had to replace it under the springs instead of on the top, so I approached our local suspention and spring chap and was quoted $200 to do the lot and a good job he did as well, whilst removing the springs and axle he noticed the bracket holding one end of the springs was a bit shaky so he re welded the thing at no extra cost.  So I guess it pays to shop around a bit.

Best Regards and Safe Travelling to all.

John
