life is a fickle thing Basil, thats why I keep banging on about not putting anything off especially travel

just because we are here today doesnt mean we will be tommorow

I'm glad mum in law is doing well she may be one of the lucky ones, we tried giving up the big family xmas as it was getting out of hand, huge gathering, huge meals, huge cleanup, huge bill, but of course old traditions will not die peacefully so we will struggle through again this year with all and sundry, as a matter of fact we gather more each year,

I swear one of these years I will go to the pub and have a chrissy dinner there and let someone else do the cleaning up!! but whenever I mention doing that, well the din is tremendous, it's a wonder you dont hear it over there, and the tears from the kiddies, they all call me grandad and they flatly refuse to go anywhere else, little bugger's, oh well whats xmas without kids

Basil, hope mum in law has a speedy recovery.

I agree with Dave, and we have all heard stories about illness or even death that has stopped a grey nomad from continuing on their travels.  We got a phone call on Monday that friends who spend most of the year on the road (freecampers),Clive didnt feel too well, pulled into Peterborough, went to little hospital, got airlifted to Royal Adelaide, kaboom you have had a heart attack and angiogram being performed today. Will most probably need a quadruple bypass.  Clive is in his 70's but isnt quite ready to give up travelling this wonderful country, but this incident has really rocked their socks.  The only thing he is grateful for is that he is in Royal Adelaide Hospital where he is being treated very well and he isnt back home on the Tweed Coast having to fight with the bureaucracy of NSW state hospital system.

You just never know and as a wise lady once said to me "You spend a long time looking at the lid".

Anyone want to buy a beautiful 4 bedroom house near the beach at Pottsville..................so I can hook the Compass caravan up and get out of here.

Hi Basil, we also want to wish your Mum a full and speedy recovery.

Your mother's experience certainly reminded us of the words of wisdom Dave06 and Shazza have just posted.

If you want to do the big Gey Nomad around Oz trip, don't put it off. Think it will make us fast track our setting off date.
