My Caravan insurance is coming up on the 31/01/09 and was wondering who is the better insurance my van ia a 17.6ft 2003 Coromal pioneer seka xc offroad pop top it is currently insured with CIL but I have got a cheaper Quote from MHIA by about a & $120 is there other insurers that are as good as these two ? the van is only used for touring.
Hi Hunter a wise man once told me to judge an insurance company by what happens when you have to make a claim has well has the price of the policey. i have had dealings with cil which was great . you need to try and find someone who has had dealing with MHIA they may good has well good luck
be a bit weary of cheaper quotes, you must compare apples with apples, some offer new for old, someone will come along with a better deal for vans, but I cant speak highly enough about cumis, we have had 2 claims with them in the past twelve months and they were absolutely marvelous
the cmca has a deal with an insurance company, lumleys I think, but dont quote me on that, it is done through ken tame, they are supposed to be really good but I have no first hand knowledge

For NSW residents I found the NRMA provides a lot of extras that the others don't such as towing and transport of your van and car plus accommodation if the reapirs can be done nearby If going to take a longer repair period then you get transport back home then back to pick up the van and vehiocle when repairs complete,
Not sure about price mainly go on what the coverage actually covers after the sales pitch from a broker.
There's no such thing as a free lunch, especially when it comes to insurance companies

I'm with APIA for car & van. I have had a few claims and they are very good to deal with and they offer australia wide insurance in the literal sense of the words, some insurers will offer you Australia Wide insurance but in the fine print you may discover that they don't insure you "while in remote areas"..... APIA may not always be the cheapest but check on what exactly they cover and you will be pleasantly surprised.... They offer monthy payments with no aditional fees which make budgeting easier too as you don'y have to find a lump sum every year. Mind you every year it does pay to shop around....

Well the bus is insured unbeknowns to me before tonight. My dad insured it comprehensive market value. I always thought you could insure agreed value to? Because I was intending to insure it for 10k, it cost 7, but with work thus far its getting pretty damn close to the 10 mark now.
Anyway, somehow I don't think this would cover contents. Do these CMCA/Lumley people do contents insurance Dave (or anyone that knows). As I really really do want my contents insured.
A few years back I looked into getting my (old) camera gear insured and I had a hell of a time trying to find anyone that would do it, a lot would insure it whilst it was in the house, but not once it left the house, which was no bloody good to me!
The one I did find that would insure it, with their yearly rates I coulda brought another two new outfits as spares and forgot about insurance.
yep they sure do, they aim their insurance at exactly this market. ( gay gonads, er I mean sly slovacs, oh you know who I'm talking about, them old buggers who nick off all the time)

I just insured my Truck, (dual cab ute) through NRMA and have agreed value, their market value on a 3 year old 50 thousand km Ssangyong 4x4 was $14900, I increased this to $32500, this as you would expect increased the premium accordingly but with an excess of $2000 my premium is only $1400 p/a.
At least i will be able to replace the truck if i do write it off....
Be very carefull and read ALL the fine and not so fine print..as someone said in a post i read earlier, there is no such a thing as a free lunch when it comes to insurance.
Cheers Graumpy
