As 'First Timers' to this Forum we would like to introduce ourselves - Bruce and Diane. Bruce has been involved in the Coach industry for 40 years while Diane's expertise lies in the field of administration & computers. Apart from travel, our interests are woodwork, cars, golf, football and cricket (Go the Aussies!) for Bruce while Australian/Local History, reading, writing and photography are Diane's. What are the most important things to us.... family of course! Is there anythingelse?
We are impatiently waiting for the time we can retire and at the last count it will be in about 12 months time. Some days we feel as if we can't wait especially when reading the experiences of those who are already out there doing what we want to do. We have had a van and 4WD for about 3 years now during which time we have gone away for 'long weekend' trips once every month plus every minute of our annual holidays are used to explore further afield. What a great experience we have had each and every time! Don't know what has been the best part.... the places we visit or the people we have met. Actually I think that without the people we would not have the great memories we hold dear at the present time.
As mentioned by many on this Forum it is the camaraderie and mateship that stands out. There is always someone there if you need a hand in any way and just as importantly we too have offered assistance when and if needed by fellow travellers..... isn't this what it is all about?
Even now, as 'practicing' grey nomads, we have made many friends and shared wonderful moments and explored amazing places.
It is our hope that when the time comes for us to take to the road as full time retirees, that we get to meet some of the great people with whom we share this forum.
Just a small warning..... we will definitely be taking advantage of the wealth of knowledge and experience possessed by others on this Forum and we in return will help if and when we can.
We look forward to sharing much with fellow members.
Regards Bruce and Diane Beautiful Lake Macquarie area NSW
well bruce and dianne you are more than welcome here, just let me be the first to extend the hand of freindship, of course you realise that by signing in here you have immediately gained some870 odd "new" freinds
you are of course correct, without meeting people on the road then the places you visit just slide in to each other, we have made freinds, as you have and will, from all over this great country and travellers from over the world who are in constant contact
anything you may wish to know then there is someone here with the answer

Hi Dave Thanks for the welcome. When you said 'gained 870 odd new friends'..... is 'odd' the operative word or is 'new' the correct one. Just asking..... such information to be used for future reference of course!
well I guess you could certainly call me odd, strange, weird, I will answer to all of those, but recompense will quickly be summoned if you should inadvertantly call me late for drinkys, as for the rest, well, we will just say they are "Quirky", I guess one would have to be "eccentric" to want to sell up a lifetime of gatherings
somebody wrote a book a fair while ago that would describe most of us I think, it was called, from memory, "they are a weird mob" I remember reading it with a smile one stormy afternoon as a youth, one or two days ago now I hasten to add

Ah yes, 'They're a Weird Mob' written by Nino Culotta (alias John O'Grady)about the experiences of a 'New Australian' upon his arrival in Australia. This was made into a movie also.
Are we too members of a 'Weird Mob' as we explore this beautiful country.... I truly hope so!
Well Bruce and Dianne - we are only just up the road from you at Aberdeen and witing the same thing. As soon as the house is sold - we're off- nothing will stop us now and we are chumping at the bit to get going.
I too am a photographer Dianne - and love my hobby with a passion, and love my computer.
We spend a lot of time the lake with friends at Fishing Point and have many a sunrise photo from the boat house.
Welcome to the forum and look forward to running into you sometime. Barry also is a huge fan of Australian history and reading
Attached is one of the latest shots from the Boathouse.
