sorry folks,not Ger,but Get.Keyboards and Happy Hours sometimes just do not mix.

Found out something on my last trip, obviouse now, but took me a few hundred km to work out.

My dog, benji, normally he sits on my lap for travel. I live in the country so no problem, but travelling in the more populated areas, this is taboo

So, off we go, and he is banned to the passenger seat. He spends all his time sleeping, getting up and looking out window and repeats this

I go to the local rubber store at a stop point and get a slab of foam sheet, appox 125mm thick, and insert it, with his mat on top, onto the passenger seat.

For the rest of the trip, he slept (nothing different here) but he only needed to open his eyes to see out and if it was of particular interest (to him) he would raise his head

For me, when bored or tired, I could give him a scratch, and just enjoy the fact we were together. Best thing I purchased on the trip

Hi Ibbo and other solo nomads.
Some of us may not be on the road at the moment.
I for one would much rather be towing and going, but a health hiccup has grounded me for a while in Cairns.
Not that it's a bad place. I have really injoyed the rainforest, the swimming holes and the people I have met.
It's just the mud I'm sick of. No matter where I step it's black, soggy mud. And it's bucketing down again, as I write.
I am thankful I'm not in Ingham.

Not joking mate, I've seen them in Rocky.  As for the Ugg Boots, get on the net sometime, and check out the Doggie sites.  You'll be amazed.  While they were here, my sister bought a Dog Stroller on the net.  We went to town and her little dog went in the stroller to the shops, and no one knew it was a dog in the stroller.  I got one too, so that when I get on the road, I can take mine with me, instead of leaving them in the vehicle if I want to go walking anywhere. [They've never had a Collar on, let alone a lead,so that would be a problem at this stage.]

Yes you can get Doggles!  See above, Clancy my Whippet and his new friend that we met on our trip to SA/VIC last year.  We were at an
 Obedience trial in the Riverland and there was another Whippet trialling (unusual in itself!) but because this little chap had permanent damage to his eyes he wore the 'doggles' whenever in bright sunlight!

seen a bullterrier in launceston all dressed up in full motorcycle leathers including , helmet, goggles, leather jacket (with spikes and insignia, ( "born to growl" ) and little leather boots

ahhh!!! nothing like a fully furnished freind, as for the limited replies it drives me nuts, I spend hour after hour placing a post (well it seems like hours) it then gets ten million hits and only 5 replies, Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again, here is me, all very big on replying, communication is how I make my living, but I have to say, I don't think there is another country in the world where people are so cohesive and ready to give one another tips like this.

sue dont be nervous the world awaits, the panic sessions are normal as the excitement builds, just think positive

when you go to arkaroola, take the leigh creek (main) road dont go around through blinman, it would literally shake your motorhome to peices, we did it last year and I am still getting the bulldust out of the camper and still tightening things up

I havent as yet placed my greedy little mits on camps 5, my four is still in brand new condition albeit a few drool spots

going through melbourne is not that bad, just remeber to pay all your eticket tolls and to jump on the ring road as quick as possible, but I wish you nothing but good luck, fond memories and great times

Thanks Dave, at least I've left my comfort zone (Eurobodalla Shire) and am In Orbost Vic.  What a pretty place. Had my first overnight stay without power and I'm impressed, didn't flatten the deep cycle batteries. But then didn't use anything that would. Tonight in Orbost I think I'm in a no-star park next to campers, what a joy! No kids, playgrounds, heated swimming pools, numbers to use amenities, rules etc.  - the relief is immense.
The way it's going, I could be around this area for a while I try to locate the NSW dealer who sold me the van. I'm quite prepared to park at Avan's front gate in Pakenham till I get (two things) fixed - really should be replaced, whilst under warranty. Will avoid civilization for as long as I can but until this is done, well.....
i've been on my own for 12 years, (I think) I know it's never too late but I'm damn sure this bloody thing they call a double bed (King single to me) would only fit me in it...There you are - happy hour and all (half water with my chateau cardboard now, gotta keep my wits about me (what left that is. Keep you posted...but am just as happy with the main forum...

Been staying at Easts Narooma on the ocean. Lots of lovely people. Crowded and I suspect, for me, 2 or 3 stars too many. Guess I'm too much of a yobbo/bushy - and no dogs to talk to here...there you are that's my whinge for the day...

Hi Sue, Ive just been through the Flinders - It has to be the most beautiful place on earth. Whatever you do, don't miss Parachilna gorge, there is a spot to free camp on just about every bend of the river (no water) and the walks through the dry river bed are wonderfull (assuming that's your thing of course)
