poor business people

so the booze suppliers of alice are cutting crook because the governments initiatives to clean up aboriginal settlements are effecting their income, this according to the front page of the nomad

dear, oh dear, it doesnt matter how many aboriginal kiddies are raped and murdered, it doesnt matter how many wives are visciously attacked and bashed. it doesnt seem to matter if the lawlessness of the aboriginals was tottally out of hand, or how many 12 year old girls were giving birth, as long as the business people can make money

the booze vendors are trying to get around it by saying that it is affecting our (the grey nomads) quality of life, funny but I dont buy all that much grog, certtainly not enough to keep the publicans in the luxury to which they would like to become accustomed

dont belittle this subject, the controls were put in place to protect the aboriginals from themselves, nothing more nothing less, nothing to do with the grey nomads

keep us out of it, we discuss these things and we get shut down, now they want to use us an excuse to reopen the flow of booze, bull****,

if the government slackens the controls on booze supplies again, the little black kiddies and women as well as little girls had better run because they wont be safe again, and thats not danger from the grey nomads I can tell you!!

Pardon my cynicism, but the real give-away in the article was the statement We're not making the money that people in other towns are making,

This "Poor old grey nomad" would NEVER let the port run out before restocking - I let the diesel get lower than the port!

if they release the control valve on the booze for the blacks then this little black duck will give alice and port augusta a very wide berth, it will not be safe again for anyone!!

I dont know why centrelink doesnt just give the booze suppliers all the money paid to the aborigines straight up, it would save a lot of paper work and cut out the middle man

as for my drinky supply running low, yeah!!! right, as if!!!

Add to the list, Kalgoorlie, Leonora, Tennant Creek, Wilcannia, and the list goes on. The only thing which prevents some of these places exploding is the liquor control laws.

A couple of years ago I went up Cape York and the liquor laws there restricted everybody to 1 slab of mid-strength and 1 cask of Chateau Cardboard- No full-strength, No spirits etc. And the fine was $26,000 and that included tourists. The pub in Bamaga was only open for 2 hours each afternoon - couldn't even get a bag of ice.

Strange, sitting down in the evening for a couple of cans of Carlton Mid didn't seem to be much of a strain (Glad they didn't know about the 6 bottles of Director's Special in the cupboard)

I don't get passionate about many things, but the sensible restriction of alcohol in "powder-keg" areas is one. The amazing thing is, the aboriginal communities are among the strongest supporters of liquor restrictions. A few years ago, one of the fringe dwellers from Kalgoorlie decided to load up the back of a ute with Woobla and took it up to the Warburton community. The elders found out and were going to spear the bloke.

Powers and Fosters made their millions on selling booze in FNQ and the cape country then transporting the alloy cans back to a cash a can depots on the otherwise empty road trains. They tell me the gin's hand bags are about to go out of production. That means the wine drinkers are going to be armed with real weapons once again pity the poor ambo's who get called out .

The social problems on the reserves are here to stay I'm sorry to say.

The restrictions are all through the isolated regions of WA, and you can't buy a 4 litre cask of anything. Only 2 litre casks, but there is no restriction of how many you buy at a time. and the grog dealers over-inflate the price of popular lines, but it's certainly not a deterrent.
The sly groggers really over-inflate the price of a slab or block, which also does not deter the consumers.
Instead of addressing the actual reason for restricted booze trade, they penalise the entire community.
Why not put this country back on equal footing. One law for all. The law breakers will then be dealt with, according to the infringement.
Treat the disease, and the cause of the disease.
Too late to find a cure after the limb has been amputated. My apologies to all amputees.
It's like the gun laws, and clearly they're working - NOT!!
I've lived in too many communities where grog abuse is a problem to be passive. The absolute waste of resources never ceases to disgust me.
The non-accountability also disgusts me. Sending good money after bad, with no outcome, positive or negative.
Until you and I get into parliament to address and change these things nothing will happen to fix it. Pauline Hansen, bless her gullible, niaive, misguiding, well-meaning heart, said it, but wasn't wise enough to use diplomacy and connections to state and repair the bleeding obvious.
I hope all is well on your patch. Cheers Granny

ah therein lies the crux of the problem "one law for all" if all were treated and punished equally then I would be a happy man indeed, one law for all colors, what would happen to me should be levelled at them, same crime, same time

a minority within a minority causes the problems but ruins it for the rest, punish those and I think all would be well

poor Pauline, love her blessed little heart, shes got some good ideas but just hasn't the brainpower to convey them in a manner that would be accepted and tolerated by civil society,

she would be, I think, her own worst enemy, if she would just learn to shut her mouth occasionally and speak rationally and with a modicum of intelligence then people may listen to her,

at the moment she is just a target for any journalist who is short of a story, poor love, but up against warrick capper, HMMMM!!!!

As of yesterday Capper failed to register as a candidate, so the joke is on him. He said he was into the election for fun, and had a couple of ideas for the electorate, including closing the Beaudesert pubs at 10pm, because "everyone should be home with their families by 10 o'clock". He's just too insincere to take seriously.
Having Capper and Hanson in the same election must be fodder for every cartoonist in the country.
She spat the dummy at Channel 7 journo, walked out of the interview, and in again to spit the dummy a bit more, because they asked her questions about campaigning funds she received when canvassing for Federal election. She couldn't answer, but she sure hit the roof.
A comedy duo if ever there was one.
Keep smiling. Granny

Anyway when we came out again they had half his drive system pulled apart.
