Busted a screen today so made the inquires of my insurer GIO, it appears that there's an option for $20 per year that will allow one free replacement and not effect your No Claim Bonus.
Guess who doesn't have the option ticked, $450 later I'm not a happy camper.
Worth the extra dollars for the traveller

Yes it pays to read the policy, and a little extra at the top can give you heaps of benefits of the money kind later on. Losing windscreens while on the road is a natural hazard. Not just rocks flicked up by passing vehicles, but birds and other critters can do damage as well. The wisdom of hindsight is a wonderful thing. Take care. Granny

we had a roo come through ours just back from the nularbor about 10 years ago, no other damage apart from the obvious wetspots on our seats, had to come back to port linoln to get her fixed after we dislodged a grumpy roo, which I may add bounded back into the shrubbery
but we get a free windscreen every year with ours, after minor stone damage we get it replaced just to have clear vision

We had to replace the windscreen on our Toyota Coaster. It already had a few dings in it when we blought it last September in Parramatta, but we finally got around to getting it fixed in Devonport, Tazzie. This after travelling nearly all the way round Oz anti-clockwise!! It was a shop where they also did repairs. We originally thought we'd get the blemishes(!!!) repaired but as there were rather a lot, it would cost just as much and they couldn't guarantee that the windscreen wouldn't split.
Anyway, the bill came to $350, but we only had to pay the first $100 as we took out insurance when we joined CMCA (with Ken Tame Assoc).
It took a little longer than normal as the surround had deteriorated (the bus is rather old -1984) but our 'Betty G' looks beautiful with her new tinted face.
I've heard a lot of good things about the insurances offered by Ken tame through the c.m.c.a. but I don't push them because I am not with them, I'm glad you had a good experience with them
dont worry about the blemishes on Betty G, they dont slow her down nor detract from her appearance, they do a great job cheaply and efficiently (the Toyota's) and very reliable, I will shout their virtues from the roof top,
took ours around a couple of times and would set out again as soon as I got my clean undies onboard without a moments thought of being letdown by our "little blue"
