Granny's Forum Picture

I've had some expressions of interest in my "Cruising Granny" pic.
I had them made in Broome.  A local printer did the graphic design, printed it on banner vinyl, and the local upholsterer sewed them on to ordinary wheel covers.
The print has been exposed to the elements for almost 2 years, and barely show any signs of wear and tear.
The concept was my idea, and the printer made it work.
Granny's head was hand designed because there are no granny head graphics on the printer's programme.
You too can personalise you car and van if you're so inclined.
I have 2 spares on the back of the van.  Rosy is my "truck". Granny

Way to go Granny.

I wonderd how you done it.
And I know you look nothing like that.
I couldn't work out what it was painted on, it looked like the side of a bike tank, now I know.

Well Popeye, the standard wheel covers can vary in price from $40 to $140. There is a great 4WD shop in Broome which can get things really quick, reasonably cheap.
I think the 2 on the back of the van cost about $120 each for the atrwork design, the printing and the sewing. The Landcruiser cover was $170, but they used the same artwork as for the van covers, and just pasted them together on the computer design.
A bit of an indulgence I know, but I've had a lot of fun, and have people calling me up on the radio, saying, "Weren't you in Carnarvon in Septembere 07?"
It gives other motorists a smile, and that's a good thing. It broke the monotony of the long stretches between roadhouses.
Cheers Granny

There's just no accounting for taste. It's going to be along year for you.
Do you get supportive or abusive reactions?
There are a few others out there, but some are just the standard available at the spare shops like Repco, Auto Pro etc.
As a lone traveller I thought it might be an ice-breaker, and it's proved to be the case.
Some people are shy about approaching a lone female camper, not a camp loner.
While I enjoy my privacy as we all do, I also enjoy having a chat to fellow travellers.
See you out there. Granny
