close to Lorne from Gary

There is a free camp about 12K's outside of Lorne up the Lorne-Deans Marsh road. As  you pass the only road off to the left it is about 200M further up on the right,no sign from that side just look for track in. It is called Big Hill campground, has drop loo's, phone coverage and plenty of open spaces. there is also a dam in there full of yabbies. Nice quite place.

Is a sweet location. Stayed there some time back and was able to walk amongst towering tree ferns. Also a Lyre bird was mimicking the sound of a sledge hammer hitting a star dropper(metal fencing post). Fascinating.
The track virtually opposite this camp area is a great drive to Mt Sabine along the ridge top of the Otway Ranges. Giant Tree ferns etc, but Beware of logging trucks.
