Think on This

Mate  posed the question at lunch today" if you put  a heap of solar panels  on the roof of a bus would the government consider the bus to be carbon neutral and give you a carbon credit to offset you running your diesel without fear of the pollution police.   Maybe he could plant a tree or two  in the Amzon to off set his pollution out put here in Australia

Second point, I have three large gum trees in my yard will I qualify for carbon credits.

To me it's all Bull Dust  but seeing that labor, from the Cough days till now.  have stuffed up everything they have ever tried to implement then it stands to reason  carbon trading should'nt be any different in the stuff up stakes

and the oppositions answer is????????????????????

I dont see our bank manger coming up with any other stategys to date, too busy knocking everything brought forward by the ruling party, interesting to note all major lending, banking and even the commercial sector is praising the current governments implementation and monetery strategys while putting malcolm fullofbull approval rating at an all time low

the answer with carbon is of course we must go nuclear but neither party will agree with that, I dont beleive carbon offsetting is the answer the same as I dont beleive the answer lies in one area it is in multiple areas, clean coal is a joke, the problem to be overcome with nuclear is what to do with the waste, cant keep burying it, but it is the only way to the future

I still remember malcolm freezer lazing by his pool in that now infamous speech of how "life wasnt meant to be easy" what have the libs given us in the last twenty years OH!! thats right G.S.T. hell that was agood thing wasnt it

these mongrels are all the same, couldnt give a stuff about the common man. all educated at the same factory by the same proffesors and all have the same strategys to make themselves rich at the cost of us working men, you are playing with yourself if you think one party is better than the other, they are all the same, just out for them selves all tarred with the same brush

A-a-a-h-h-h!

Well balanced social opinion; Chips on both shoulders furiousbiggrin

And just when did the common man give a stuff about other common men? (Unless they were his mates, of course.)

Don't talk about yourself in this context, Dave06, as you seem to be somewhat removed from my concept of the 'common man'. Decidedly uncommon, in fact.

I just hate politics, cant stand it when someone says this party is no good because, this party does this and that party does that, politics are guaranteed to stir up animosity because EVERYBODYS beliefs are different, been done before will be again

they are both the same corrupt system with the same outcome, money in their own pocket,

they all should be turfed out and a decent set of persons placed in to that position but as soon as that happens then the new guard gets corrupted by the inept unaccountability of the system

I'd rather be travelling,

common or uncommon, I am what I am!! and I am constantly surprised that when I or someone else expresses an opinion contrary to someone elses belief then we automatically have a "chip" on our shoulders, especially in here, is this a common theme amongst forum attendies?????

personally I dont think politics belongs in a travel forum because of exactly this reason, but it doesnt belong to me nor to you so what is listed will be discussed for better or worse by many and varied readers all with different views,

if you dont want it discussed, dont list it, dont want to discuss it, dont look at it, disagree with others fine but dont get nasty and acuse us of having chips on our shoulders simply because we like to discuss things

me, I like travelling and talking!!!

With Dave on this one.............politics and religion two sujects that sould NEVER be discussed whenever there is more than one person present in any situation.  Everyone has different beliefs/opinions and you should all keep them to yoursleves.

Please keep these two subjects out of the forum, we're here to talk about traveling this wonderful country - lets keep it that way!

If this makes me and Dave uncommmon..well..........BRING IT ON!!

Everyone has an opinion.I hate arguments about politics and religion.Especially when it is not face to face. Both topics can easily offend people and for that reason perhaps we should ignore them.I write this in good faith and without any ill will.I have seen so many good people fall out over the two named topics.don't let us go down that path.Cheers.Ibbo.

Agree with Dave also, but it is a shame that adults cannot have a civilised discussion on any topic without someone accusing them of having a chip on their shoulders and getting all hot under the collar.  Maybe it should be a case of agreeing to disagree.

Just my thoughts on the matter, not wishing to ruffle anyones feathers but are we not all adults here?  It would seem as we get older we seem to become more cranky with, and intolerant of, others point of view.

we should concentrate on the forums initial intent, TRAVELLING and leave the rubbish to the other forums,

simple suggestion here, if you dont travel or are not going to travel in the near future then dont post in the nomads,

Sort of limits the topics available for discussion, there is only so much one can discuss under the travelling banner before topics are repeated, but I am quite happy to give it a go and see what happens, anything as long as we do not end up like some of the other Fora with their enless back stabbing and snide remarks.

Sorry people to start an all in over politics but if we don't engage with the world of politics then we are all up the creek without that famous paddle. never to be heard at any level.

Now back to the orginal question which was to consider "Will a bus with solar panels all over the roof get carbopn credits secondly will it qualify for the rebates for going solar. Why should a house dweller get a kick back if a bus dweller doesn't

Australian politics is great if only we could harness all the good ideas from both parties and put it into action under a combined banner . I suppose the term opposition is exactly that it's charter is to disagree for the sake of disagreeing .

Carbon trading needs a lot more thought put into it before WE allow only the rich get richer

Well if I'm being discouraged from discussing polotics I'll have to put a non political spin on things won't I?

Just be careful re the solar panels on anything...... There is a scam which is officially sanctioned re the installation of solar panels on homes and the $8000 rebate. It works thus; You are enticed to install solar panels on your roof and told you will reap huge financial reward by selling your excess back into the grid at "premium" rates. Problem is that the rebate never gets to you, you actually never get to own the panels and there is never an excess and you under the cuningly crafted contract end up having to pay for solar panels and the installing and "approved" installer keeps any and all profits. Now thats not political but when you consider that this incentive scheme, and indeed this sort of scam has been legally impleloemted by Politicians then it does become political.
Truth be known a politicians only interest is in his/her reelection & hence access to their super.....

Poliltics aside, some of the decisions they make just confuse me. I'm a rational, logical person, and there's none of that when they get their seats. Industrial packages which penalise employers and employees, rather than rewarding effort.
We now have Mr. Rudd, the leader of the Knee Jerk Reactions Party. The consequences will come to bite him on the bum I hope.
After observing the recent Qld elections, I'm ashamed to be an Aussie. The pettiness is embarassing.
If the parties worked within their policies, without all the silly promises, and knee jerk reactions, it would be a more honest world. For every action there is a reaction.
As for rewards or subsidies for solar power, all you can do is ask. If it's there for one, it's there for every one. Whether it be for power and/or hot water on a house or a van/bus, all you have to do is ask, and push it. I'd recommend checking the conditions of the policy first.
There I go being rational and logical again. That's the journalist in me going off.
Good luck with that. Cheers Granny

Mate applied for the solar and water tank rebates . No No you can't have both they don't want you to good all out GREEN . If you do get one approved the cost you lay out outweights any longterm return. And as stated once installed they are for ever you just can't take it out of the grid because you don't want to play anymore .. Read the very fine print.

Like Carbon Credits for planting trees idea , what happens if they cut them down or a bush fire takes them do you have to pay it back .

There are more questions than answers Carbon credits , needs a lot of reworking

I think that saying" Frying Pan to Fire" rings a bell

Do you really enjoy batting your head against a proverbial brick wall quite so much?

I know it's nice when you stop, but it still gives one a headache. confuse

Oh sometimes the brick wall turns into a keyboard and I do make my feelings known to the powers that be. It doesn't always bring on change, but it has sometimes. A win is a win.
We should all express ourselves. Think your subject through, do some research, and then contact the department, government or whoever to express your concerns. Not in an agressive way, but just state your case, and a possible amendment or solution. It really does work.
If you belong to a group, or even Australian National Seniors, use that forum to get your feelings out there. You'd be surprised who else feels the way you do, and then the strength of numbers pushes it's barrow.
The last person you speak to is you local member. Sometimes local government is a good place to start.
Fight the GOOD fight. You'd be surprised at the power the people have.
Cheers Chris
