Don't worry, be happy

We have at our age something that all the woes and problems of the world cannot take away,, We are Australians and we live in the best damn country of the world,------------AND WE ARE FREE
Like a lot of you out there I went throught a war zone, evacuated from a wrecked and flaming hell which was London, and moved further west where we were still bombed and scared the S*** out of us as kids with lasting fears to this day,
I have lived throught the Korean and missed out on the Vietnam war (fortunatly)
I have been broke and damaged in hospital, I have been very poor and wondered where the next loaf of bread was coming from,
What is happening in the outside world,    ----------    I refuse to let it touch me,  and I live my present life the way the way I please, the way I want to,
All the bitching in the world want change it,
Yhink of of all the good you have,   and less negativity please

Reach for the moon, if you fall short you will land on a star. And to finish  "Each day is a gift that is why we call it the present.

a famous man once said,

"freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose, freedom aint worth nothing but it's free"

extract from the immortal song "me and Bobby McGee"

freedom is an illusion that can be taken from any one of us at any time,

life is fleeting and if we bury our heads and not talk about these things, ours will be gone. taken by another race who will fight for their view of freedom.

In that case I will  live my dream, for what are dreams but illusions anyway and in my illusions I am free to live within the rules of civilized society.

The only really FREE people, are those who can live without all the so-called neccessities of "civilisation."

Hi Xina. If living without the necessities of civilisation is free, you do it first.
In this month's tip in the Australian Womens' Health Diary they remind us to list things we are grateful each day.
Monday - I'm grateful for friends.
Tuesday - I'm grateful for modern medical science.
Wednesday - I'm grateful I can enjoy where I am.
Thursday - I'm grateful I can do things for myself.
And I'm free to have these things and be grateful for them.
Always think of how our actions affect on others.
That's life. Granny

Yep but it's one helluva climb, we did it 1997 when I was a lot fitter and a lot more stupid, break a leg there and you are history for sure. I have included a photo of the way down.

One of the reasons I love the bush so much, peace and tranquility, no noise other than nature and at night no light pollution, the night sky is as clear as.

I'm just grateful I am alive and I have a wonderful, beautiful country to live in. I have lived in Britain, South Africa and Zimbabwe and I am so grateful that I can live here in Australia.

There's nothing like it on this earth. A cool evening, and the stars are so bright you can catch them, and the full moon takes over the sky, so bright you could almost read a book by it.
That's the Kimberley and Pilbara sky. Anywhere in the bush away from the lights of the towns will give you this view. Just love it, and then you see the falling stars, or a satellite passing over. Comets and meteor showers are just stunning from Gantheume Point at the southern end of Cable Beach.
Now that's living! Granny

Hi Granny,
I did at one point live as close as it was possible for me to without most things people usually take for granted. When I came south again, it was strange to have power at the flick of a switch, TV, walls , newspapers, and shops handy.
However I was thinking when I wrote that, of the Aboriginal peoples of the world, who in some areas, are still able to find all the neccessities for life in the country around them and do not know "money".
Cheers,
xina.

I took M&J's initial post for this topic as talking about, enjoying the simple things, and not getting too concerned about "that which cannot be changed"

I had visions of camping, making the fire, preparing a meal, enjoying that meal under the stars. Looking at my fire and meal, thinking, I did that and its good. Compare that to the same situation at home. Watch TV, and during the commercial break, put the packet meal in the microwave, watch more TV, next commercial serve it up to eat in front of the TV. The Tv is talking about murder and mayhem, economy going down the shoot.

Relax, give life a KISS approach, and what will be will be. Get more involved with the simplier things

I believe at my age, I have made my difference and its time to hand the ball over to the next generation to make a difference and change that which needs change. I am just reducing my impact and getting back to a simplier life, I have earnt it.

I love the Kimberley and Pilbara, have spent some time in both places and just cannot get enough of it.  I know I will probably raise a few hackles when I say they must be the best places on this earth.

To simply sit and relax in such places and look at the night sky, as you say so bright, in my opinion is as close to heaven as one could get upon this earth.
John

I feel the necessities of civilization are what nature provides for us, a wonderful country in which to live, a night sky brilliantly lit by the moon and the stars, rainfall to give us water, sunshine to warm us during the day and a gentle breeze to cool us at night, the majesty of the mountains and ranges, a green field covered in flowers of every colour, fragrance and description, a wooded area or forest where one is able to hear the singing of the birds in the branches above and see the shadows of light and dark dancing over the forest floor as the sunlight filters down through the foliage above.  With this I could live forever.

When I was a youngster we did not have all the modern conveniences of the present day, no computers, TV, IPods, DVD's, and such so we invented them and in my opinion much to our detriment.  Now these material things are considered necessities of life, so I ask my self "What the hell have we done, has our contribution to this world been so wonderful or have we simply made the rod for our own backs."

John

On the highway opposite and near the turnoff to Shark bay there is a lookout point , quite high and very roomy, you can fit fit several semis in there, and you can see for miles inland and to sea, stayed there for 3 nights with my dog pixie, the camera worked over time, especially at sunset and sunrise, to see the sun and moon reflected in the water was magic and the lights of the car and trucks you could see coming from several miles, not a soul within a rifle shot of me

Since I've been in the Daintree region of FNQ I've found myself comparing the east to the west. The west wins. Well, only when it comes to the intensity of the night sky. Even the wet seasons are very different.
In reality they are just different, and halleluja for the difference. I've adjusted my thinking and respect and appreciate each place for it's features. That's the joy of this country we live in. Granny

when we travel a lot then we begin to compare, when we spent time around the central deserts we used to yearn for the rainforest, spend time in the rainforest and we pine for the desert, the kimberley has always been a special place for us and we find there is simply no comparison to anything else on earth
