We are heading off in a month, my sister is going to babysit the home but she has cats and they do not see eye to eye with our dogs. Is anyone out there looking for a good dog or two, perhaps to baby sit for six months. They presently have the run of five acres so are used to a lot of space and hopefully a new home will have this. Both are like the owners, not pedigree but very loveable. One is a Kelpie cross - getting old and tired like most of us but still likes nothing more than to chase a ball and play with kids. She's not fond of males, not agressive but is very timid - seems she had a bad experience in another life. The other is a bigger dog - perhaps staffy cross. He is a bit of a bruiser with a jealous streak, again not aggressive but tends to bark whenever we pay attention to someone or something else. We live SOR and would love to hear from anyone who would be interested in giving either or both of them a home.
Why not put the cats in a cattery..It must be a difficult thing to do,the dogs give everything and only ask for love in return.Sorry we cant help you with your dogs aswe are not to far away from "going"ourselves and three dogs in a Penguin would just not work out.Best of luck on your travels.Cheers.Ibbo.
Why are you not able to take your mates with you??? They do not ask for much, and have been loyal companions to date?
We have 2 x German Shepherds and they travel everywhere with us. They have been our best mates for 5 years now, and to be honest with you I would not be able to find it in my heart to leave them behind nor would I want to.
They do restrict you to a degree, I have to admit, however they do not ask much of you, and give you love and attention in return.
Possibly not the answer you want to hear, but HEY give it some thought and have a little compassion. Would you like to be dumped after a few years because someone is going away and you would be a hinderance.
Have some heart and give some consideration to your best mates.
Thats only my thoughts as a dog lover, however some my have a different view. Everyone is entitled to their point of view.

I know what your saying about loyalty and loving - I just can not see the two dogs travelling in the back of the cruiser, the bigger one has only ever been in a car once and then was terrified, he just lives to run all day. This is the hardest thing, ideally we will find someone looking for company for six months but I'm a realist and cann't see anyone wanting to give them back after this time. We can only hope.
Have you tried Animal rescue or is it dog rescue. They look for foster homes for dogs.I know that some of the animal services try and place dogs.I realise that you do not want to hand them to a dog pound.Have a look on Google, you never know what you will find.I feel for you right now and would hate to be in your position.Maybe a boarding kennel could do you a special deal for two dogs on an extended stay.Good luck.Cheers.Ibbo.PS.There is a Staffy rescue in most States, give them a go they could point you in the right direction.
sorry but I agree with everybody else here, to leave our little mates behind would be akin to leaving a son or a daughter behind, in fact I would rather leave a son or a daughter behind, they after all would understand a little whereas a doggie just knows how to give out boundless love and affection and asks for nothing in return
but please if you absolutely must leave them, please, please, please find them a good home!!
