Ever wondered what age is, I have a G/G/son of 7 and he told me a few months ago that I am old, when I asked him what he meant, he said you have more crinkles in your face than mummy, and she is 29, my eldest g/son is 31 and unmarried, and asked him the last time I saw him "feeling old mate" as he puffed to lift a wheel, (truck whee)l hes a tow rruck operator, "only when I see the stupid kids killing themselves on the road," he said, Old Jim opposite me is 86, and he still digs in the full sun, sweating and pacing himself to get the job done , he reckons he,ll keep digging until hes about 90, "got to do something" he says, and take it from me , thats hard yakka, So you aint old if you have a smooth face, (look after yourself) can dig in the sun all day,(stay active) and are careful on the road, (drive with commonsense) Guess I aint't an old man yet, 3 out of 3 aint bad
Yes, age is just a number, attitude and appreciation of all that we have in life is what is important. A little note from our 10 year old Grandaughter, stated = "Dear Grandma and Grandad - You are so cool Reasons why you are so cool ! 1. You always dance with me 2. You help me 3. You are so cool 4. You go traviling a lot (we help with spelling too!!) 5. You like camping 6. You like dogs
You are wicked"
Our wrinkles are important to Jessica and she is not embarrassed when we act like children.
Great things grandaughters, those same words sound just as though my own grandaughter had said them to us.I think that age is something mentioned in the obits column or on a headstone.Old Age?a good single malt Scotch whisky.Cheers.Ibbo.
age is relative, as long as you have an older "relative" to look at then you're doing O.K. when you are the oldest at the table it's time to talk about something else

Age is but a state of mind. I refuse to grow up. While life is so much fun why would I want to get old. There are very old 40 year olds out there, and there very young 80 year olds out there. It's all about attitude to life, and I'm not ready to sit back and mope just yet. I have some travelling to do, people to meet, places to go. Keep smiling and loving it. Chris

Definately age is all down to what is going on in a persons head!
I have a mate in SA who is now 80+ I used to hang around with him a fair bit despite the 32 year age gap, we shared a lot of common interests and he is a man who one can sit down and have a good conversation with, as an equal. What more do you want in a mate?!
He worked on past retirement age, he fishes still and until recently was still out there at any opportunity with his old English Springer Spaniel doing what that breed of dog love to do most!
I have met far younger people whose only interests in life involve opening ring pulls and watching life on the tv.

old mates are good mates, young mates havent learnt how to talk yet, but we must try to teach them how to just "settle" down, we have a mixture here at most times, the younguns arent bad, just have to make small allowances for them and their limited life experiences, I love them all, especially the littlys and their questions
"why is your hair all that funny colour" .........."why have you got hair coming out of your ears'.........."how come your arms are so hairy" .........."gee you've got big hands, daddys are only small ones, but they work"
seem to have a fascination on my hair but I guess if you study someone long enough that is the most obvious

As long as I have older relatives I'll be quite happy thanks, only problem is they are all in Adelaide (Christies Beach to be precise), now what else are we going to talk about?
As CG says age is a state of mind and the only good thing about growing older is I don't get my bum smacked anymore, but I refuse to grow up, too many places to go and things to see and do.

From what I can gather I think Bill and myself are one of the eldest on the forum does it bother us no as long as we can get out in the van meet people and have a good yak around a campfire why worry about age got too much else to do. Helena.
Good on ya Helena, Did'nt think to check that but will do now, with all this mob of garrulous people , Although this age thing has no influence on experiences, whether they be good or bad, Come to think of it, there is no such thing as good or bad, its all in the mind or eyes of the beholder,
Yep Age is unimportant unless you are whisky or cheese.... But you do know when you are getting old, demanding that your food is stewed to a point where the veggies are unrecognisbale and noticing that you start to do things by habit is another. These are signs that you may need to talk to your doc about Donepezil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donepezil trouble is by the time you realise you have SD it's too late ROTFL. Not sure who is sposed to help you......

well I do almost everything by habit these days but I think very little of it has anything to do with age, I get out of bed because ummm!!! well I have gotten out of bed for the last 50 years, works so far.......
I go to work because ummmm!! I have done for the last forty years (started at the service station next door to our family home when I was 12, before school and after school)
I have my first coffee at 6.30am because...
my next coffee is at 10am because......
another at 12noon because...
then 2pm because....
then 4pm because...
when I'm home I run on autopilot I dont have to think I just know what to do when to do it, and if I forget then the dragon will tell me what I'm supposed to be doing
I think I have a little ocd, if I'm at a doctors surgery or travel agent or somewhere that they have pamphlets on the counter, then I must "straighten" up the ones that are within my reach, doesnt matter how much I try to ignore them they "call" out to me and I "MUST" straighten them, I almost had a brawl with one travel agent she liked the pamphlets fanned out, I liked them in a neat pile
fan out, neat pile, fan out, neat pile, she ended up putting them away
I'm looking forward to befuddlement I would love to get up each morning not knowing where I am (travellers dream) and go to bed in a different house with a different women everynight
every meal would be a taste adventure, every cuppa a first, and all that grog yet to be sampled, then it can be done over and over
