Onya Akuli. Are you a fellow Wiccan? By the way guys, they call those falling branches "Widow-makers."
Cheers,
xina.

I learned many years ago in Zimbabwe not to camp under trees, got nothing to do with falling branches though.  Over there they have what the Africans call a very intelligent snake, the Boomslang, it swings down out of the branches like a pendulum and knocks the hat off your head, it then bites you on the back of the neck and it's a bit useless applying a tourniquet there, it's either the venom or the tourniquet that gets you in the end.

Just another kind of Widow-Maker I guess.

John

Ok, ok, message taken.
I do really love all critters, but the f/f's do make a mess under the tree, mostly next to my van. They're at their noisiest as they settle in for the night.
Cairns central really stinks in the vicinity of the trees they roost (hand) in during the day.
The fig tree itself makes a mess when it drops the fruit and it starts to ferment. Mmmmm.
I actually have to give the furry little buggers some credit for resourcefulness.
About 20 metres from where I'm parked is an Indian Oil Tree, as I know it. They produce a nut the size of a walnut. It has a green fleshy coating over the shell, similar to the walnut.
Now the enterprising little critters carry the nuts over to the fig tree, yes, the one next to my van, chew the flesh off the shell, and drop them. You got it. Clunk! On the van roof. The first time I heard it I nearly cacked myself. Further investigation in the morning revealed the chewed nuts on the ground where they bounced.
I actually admire nature and its critters, and how they adapt to their terrain, the season and available food supplies.
The tree is actually a great source of amusement, and amazement, with very little grizzle from Granny.
Oh, I'm in a park and was allocated this site.
Keep the passion. Cheers Chris   aww

Crusin Granny: Thanks for not taking my rant too personally Granny .... I guess it is a hangover after living 15 years on the NSW Northern Rivers where it seems everone is a rabid bat hater.

Xina: no I am not a Wiccan, but my daughter is - I'm Buddhist.

How did we get from bush camping hazards to cricket?
Maybe, but camp or beach cricket is another matter, with it's own hazards.

Something to do with diversification I think, conversations seem to have a life of their own and tend to wander around quite a bit.  I suppose one could say as we are Nomads then the conversation is a bit Nomadic.confuse.gif
