Can anyone help with the the website where one can volunteer to help with the re building etc after the terrible fires. We are going to head down that way and would like to offer our help.Cheers.Ibbo.
Contact any of the shires affected by the bushfires, and I think you would get the most recent info, or at least they would direct you to where you could register as a volly, tell them what your skills are or where you'd like to help. There's a fair bit of info on the net, but it's mostly people and Government Depts elaborating on the assistance they have pledged or given. I haven't found a central registration site. The locals would have the best, most recent details of where vollies are required. All the best. Cheers Chris

Thanks Chris.I will Google some info.We are heading down south next week, calling to the police Academy at Goulburn for my nephews passing out parade. From then on it will be which ever road the Ford fancies. It is ourintention to spend as much time as we can as vollys.Cheers.Ibbo.
From what ive heard about my area [north eat vic] its seems like most work is done through the appeals fund board. It seems to be done mainly through contractors, but remembering the area here where lives and houses were lost is farm country. I dont know further down south i would imagine there would be more in the sorting/delivering goods but i could be very wrong Grannys thoughts seem to on the track.
just roll up anywhere in the affected area and tell them, you will be needed everywhere and you will be valued everywhere, have a big shoulder ready as well as a big bucket of sympathy, be prepared for some horror storys
wish them all the best from all of us here and particularly from me, I have spoken to many of them over the phone for many hours so I know what they are dealing with and what you are about to enter
you will be greatly apreciated but not necesarily outwardly recognised, there is a huge ammount of self sufficiency pride in there so tread carefull but just be ready to do anything
all the best and good luck and well done

One web site is www.blazeaid.com. Read about their work there and there is an email address for contact. We are also planning to head there before we go north for the winter.
