WiFi Zone

Just thought I should mention this, so others don't get caught out like I did.

Many caravan parks are now offering WiFiZone wireless internet connection, be very careful how you use this service, apart from their extortive prices, on their sign-up page it clearly states $xx.xx = 2000mb download etc etc.

But alas, downloads are not downloads with this mob of cyber crims.
What they neglect to inform you is that any uploads, that is data you transfer upwards, such as sending e-mails, posting here and so on, are also counted towards your download limit.

No mention of this is made on the sign-up page, nor in their badly written terms and conditions. The customer is lead to believe (as I was) only your downloads are counted towards the selected limit.

Now if they were a true wireless service you could accept outbound (uploads) data would be counted, but WiFiZone is simply a local computer with proxy software and an ADSL connection connected to a wireless system. As such they more then likely would not be getting charged for uploads by their ISP, I am not aware of many ISP's who charge for uploaded data on ADSL plans.

So together with their exhorbitant prices and not-so-true download limits, they also do not respond to any e-mail correspondence!

Sounds like a job for Bat Man or in his absence Consumer Affairs for misleading advertising .

If your concerned they are not answering your correspondence on this matter go to C A and let them make the call that's what us taxpayers are paying for

Report them to the telecommunication Ombudsman asap.
I get so sick of people out there feeding off ignorance and innocence to make profits.
The Office of Fair Trading in your state or Canberra may also want to hear about it.
Just do it! Cheers Chris

No I am not worried, just posted as I didn't want anyone else to get caught out by this mob of incompentents.

Although every dog has its day, I had mine (except it was night), and found a lil 'ol fault in there system :)) And got myself some extra DL for nort. My days as a network admin for an ISP back many moons ago have not failed me :p
