Actually it's a great spot, freindly people run the place. IT'S OUT OF TOWN SO YOU DON'T GET DISTURBED by those with a penchant to wander Bourke itself all night long commiting random acts of vandalism.

Kidman's Camp - Bourke North Bourke on the Cunnamulla RdCabins and Powered sitesPh (02) 6872 1612Fax(02) 6872 3107www.kidmanscamp.com.au Kidmans Camp was established in 1998 by current owners Peter and Tracey Simmonds, Peter a former Australian Champion Bronc Rider and builder and Tracey who is also a competitive rodeo rider grew up in Bourke and have lived in the region most of their lives.Peter and Tracey saw the tourism industry as one that was growing and in the mid 1990's set about the development of what was to become Kidmans Camp. Peter, with his building background laid out the plans for a Caravan and Cabin park that would ultimately have the capacity of 500 guests. Call in and visit for yourselves. The Outback's best Van Park!

The Jandra departs Kidman's Camp daily at 9am and 3pm offering visitors 1 hour cruises and a chance to relive the old river days. For further information call the Back O'Bourke Exhibition Centre on (02) 6872 1321.

G'day  ..

We stayed there for a few days in 01.  As Basil said it is far enough out of town to be out of the way of the out of control elements of the community.

We chose a site with a pleasant view across the paddock to the tree lined Darling (of course we couldn't see the water.. the Darling has steep / high banks at this particular spot) but it was a short stroll to the paddle boat, for a cruise.

Would certainly recommend it as it was then.

At that time there was a fair bit to see round the area, particularly the irrigation area .. that may have not survived the last drought.

Kidmans Camp is a nice place for a few days. Give Bourke a break though sure there are some bored kids but there is no funding or help and the local coppers 4 off them have over 400 sqaure KM to patrol.

It is as good as described above.

The sites are spacious and there is lots of room between campers, (unless like a lot of folk who just have to be right next to the 'loos!)       The well supplied amentities are spacious, airy and are always clean.

As an aside, another thing that continues to fascinate me in this country, is why in Bourke and other places nearby, there is this necessity to have manproof fencing around businesses, and protective bars and grilles on shop fronts and doorways.      Now that is something, I am really "Sorry" about.
