Greetings, I'm researching a 4WD fridge and I've done a search on here, but there is no reference to Evakool, the funny-looking yellow Esky with a screwed on refrigeration unit. They get very good reviews elsewhere. They are also substantially cheaper than Engel/Trailblaza etc. Has any GN got one and would care to comment? Cheers, Tony

As Dave would say, get an Engel mate , worth there weight in gold, I have had the 60 litres since they were introduced in 98 and not a spot of trouble for freezing or frig
Much as I hate to dispute the wise writers above, I have a 55L Frigemate (made by Evakool) and I reckon it's the ducks guts, mainly because it performs as well as the Waeco/Engel variety and it's 2/3 of the price.

Hi Tony We purchased an evercool 60ltr fridge, the white fibreglass one about 15 months ago and have no trouble what so ever. The beuty with the fibreglass one is that they do not sweat and do not need a insulating cover on them. It has been running as a freezer since new and will last for 2 days on a battery that we know of and could do more but haven't pushed it further. At present travelling up around Darwin and it is still peforming well. Very happer with the white glass evercool fridge freezer. Bob The gypsy wanderers
hi all .. not sure about consumption re other brands, but Evakool 55L claims .7 Amp Per Hour using fridge settings, to 2.2 APH at maximum freezer settings .. Quite good and worth your consideration .. !
I battled with the decision of what to get a few months back. I ended up getting one off ebay, some import job and it works very well.
Now the Engels, yes very respected, only issue I had with the 80L engel was I couldnt fit the damn thing through the door of the bus!
The Waeco 110L interested me, although after purchasing the one I did from ebay, it is clear to see that it has more stroage space then the Waeco 110L, how Waeco work out there capacity I don't know, all I know is this presumeably 70L holds more!
If you can afford it, get an Engel, they are very respected, reliable and they are easy to get parts for, so I am told.
The Evakools look quite good to, and they are Australia made!!!
