Kipor Generator

I am toying with the idea of buying a 2000w Kipor Generator. Has anybody heard anything about them or is anyone used/using one. If so can you give me a run down on them.

Thanks.
Doc.

g'day Doc and welcome to you, just check on the availability of spare parts and just what the warranty is, if the warranty is say two years and you only pay a small ammount for it in relation to a more reputable brand then you would in theory be in front

a lot of these cheaper chinese brands are good but not known for longevity but if you get a good run out for a reasonable time then in theory you are in the lead

Thanks mate. I have been doing a bit of research and found that they come with a 2 year warranty and are sold by a few reputable dealers. For a 2000w one you are looking at $1400.00 new. I will do a bit more digging to see what I can find out.

Yeh Doc, welcome
I have been advised that most of the Chinese engines, are infact "blueprint" copies of older engines, typically Honda for 4 stroke and McCullock for 2 stroke. It seems they purchased the blueprint, updated the electrics and material, and now sell them.

Given this to be true, then they should perform well and its hard to beat the price

I'd agree fully with that as far as the engines however the sparky bit might not be as good as say a honda or reputable brand

if they warrant them for two years then I would expect three years plus out of them during intermittent use and that cost per year would be quite reasonable

G'day people, I am a new member, in fact just confirmed membership 5 minutes ago. I work casual at a spare parts shop in my home town and we sell Kipor Generators. In 12 months I have been working there there have only been 2 brought back, and that was because of stale fuel in one and dirty fuel in the other. Other than that people who have bought them have been very happy with them. They do not have the ability to be coupled together, as do some Hondas. that is Hondas you can couple two 2 kw genies together and get 4 kw. Mind you you would want something extra for the extra$$$. Incidentally the kipor is quieter than the same rated Honda. Cheers

Should have mentioned that kipor warranty paid the repair bill even though it was directly attributed to user caused problem

Thanks for the comments everyone, I ended up buying a 2000w one for $1370.00. Bunnings had them for $1590.00. I could have went to them and said that I can get one cheaper down the road, but seeing that a local trader had them cheaper in the first place I stuck with him. I have run it a couple of times so far, just to run it in and it seems to do everything that the Honda's do.

Once again thank you all.

Doc.

in my view three words describe the Honda Genny "simply the best" but somebody will have a Yamaha and argue theirs is and someone else will have a Kawasaki and so on and so forth

I have a Honda 1000 in squeaky that has done thousands of hours of fencing with me, it still starts on the second pull regardless of how long its been since it was started, and it will purr away all day on less than a gallon of fuel, I don't use the thing when I'm "out there" but I have it just for emergencies

I therefore recommend Honda unreservedly

Sue
With Honda, you pay for the name, and they are good. I would suggest that you look at all gens on offer, and pay attention to their weight and physical size, as thats what will be important

Easy of starting, is next, then how big do you really need. Do not get "bigger is better" as gen's need to work at 75% load to be reliable.

I have a Kipor (yellow Gen1 ) 2600 and it has had a lot of use running a A/C 24 hours a day and for 10 to 12 hours a night and have had no problem with it .
The blue Kipors are Gen11

Great to see you here, Mick smile

Your words of wisdom on the other BBs have been much appreciated and it's good that the people on this one may now enjoy the same benefits.
