You must NOT use metal utensils when preparing Herbal Remedies. Metal causes are-action which could negate the effectiveness of the product. Glass or Enamel only, a Wooden spoon, and a Plastic slotted spoon.
[I buy my Beeswax by the Kilo from a Bee-keeper. It's much cheaper than the stuff you get at the Health-food Shop.]
Steep Leaf in Oil on low heat 'till Leaf is CRISP. [ I press the Leaf with a plastic potato masher to get as much of the goodness as possible into the Oil, after it comes off the stove.] Melt Wax. While this is melting, take Leaf out of Oil with a Plastic slotted spoon, and discard. [A Plastic strainer will melt unless you have the Oil cool.] Mix Wax and Oil. Cool and put in container/s.
You can use more Leaf if you want to. I usually put the Oil in the saucepan, and fill it to the brim with leaf. It will take about 2 hours.

I have had repeat requests for this one when I was living on Cape York. The guys used to swear by it. Haven't tried it myself, so I'd appreciate any feed-back if anyone tries it.
JUNIPER BERRY MASSAGE OINTMENT.
Half a cup Juniper Berries. Half a cup Sesame, Olive, or Sunflower Oil. 25 Drops Rosemary Oil. 1 and a half Tablespoons, melted Beeswax.
Soak Berries in a small amount of water overnight. Drain. Mash berries a bit. Simmer in Oil approximately 30 minutes. DON'T BURN.
I thought most of you guys would remember that Clove Oil was used for toothache in the past. Thought this might be a cheaper product, and be handy if you're miles from the nearest Dentist. [Some people don't like to take painkilling medications unless absolutely necessary.] Also, Oil of Cloves is used to kill Moulds, added to paint to prevent mould growing etc. Hasn't any-one got "Spotless" by Shannon Lush? I've loaned mine to a friend, and can't remember specifics offhand, but it's used for cleaning other things as well. Cheers, xina.

Just been told I don't have permission to edit previous Post Re Comfrey Ointment, so I'll post the extra info. I was going to add here. Comfrey Ointment is also good for Sprains etc., and can be used to heal Cuts and Sores. Wounds must be perfectly clean however, as it heals very quickly. Cheers, xina.
I have watched these posts, but not added, till now.
Xina is well versed in these things, and i use them myself. The unfortunate bit is, most people would rather have "western" medicine.
So be it, use them, just remember that NO CURE has come from "western" for a bloody long time. Why, because the Phamecutical companies make money from repeat business, not cures. They also can not patent a natural product. They do however make most of their stuff by copying natural, but its not the same.
So do as you wish, i have stopped getting a soap box out over this.
I would recommend to GN's, that they carry "Cancermia" cream. Yep, its all natural, and removes "sun spots" within a few days. lots of claims for it, but you make up your own mind. Extremely hard to get, but worth every effort.
Lots of other that i use, as required, but I do know with natural " one does not work for all", but that is the same with "western".
So give it a thought, do not dismiss it just because it does not come from your doctor. Live long, be as good as you can be, and travel: thats why we are here.
I think that daveo is just being supercilious as usual.
Not derisive.
There's more modern medicine derived from natural remedies than is generally accepted and I agree that the interests of the pharmaceutical companies are more often driven by commercial imperatives than by philanthropy, but it must also be accepted that there is a lot of quackery out there in the world of "alternative" medicine.
If all the treatments applied by naturopaths', homeopaths', acupuncturists', herbalists', spiritualists' et al really were indeed efficacious then I would be one of the healthiest persons on the planet.
No medicine, old, new, mainstream, alternative, Eastern or Western has yet to discover a cure for ME/CFS, the various forms of arthritis, and, indeed, the common cold.
Long way to go yet.
But people will always push their barrow while there are still people gullible enough to accept unproven claims made by unscrupulous operators.
Many natural remedies have beneficial effects as do so many 'conventional' treatments. My argument will always be against those who play the 'us versus them' game in order to promote their own interests. I had enough of that in my religious upbringing.
Yes, I'm a sceptic; in the literal meaning of that word. I have an open and enquiring mind - and a long history of disappointments.

I though he was being FACEATIOUS At my age ,I use cancemia, brilliant and I use panodol, so you are both right, Think that the doctors are a self serving lot, they will point out every possible ailment and your mind maginifies it till you visit them again, after all they got to earn a quid too, Be strong in your MIND and sort it for yourself, A lot of it is mind over matter,
get a life Bob, Dave0 did not knock xinas post, her "white knight" is not needed here, Davo's a far more intelligent man than that, Dave dont ever withdraw your post's
c'mon feller's let's not have this dribble, I withdrew my posts, just leave it at that shall we,
I use and recommend "alternative" medication and will support xina in this and many other things, my comments were not offensive, or demeaning, however some take offense at the strangest of things

There you go, a classic instance of the written word taken out of context.
I was not having a go at anyone, sorry Dave if you took it so.
I wrote my thoughts on the topic, in reference to posts. I do not care if you use/like or otherwise herbals. i like them, and use them.
What a surprise to me to see the responses - maybe i should have written it better. Seems as it was AFTER Dave's, it may have been taken as responding to Daves - stuffed if I know.
Good learner for us all, when a post is misunderstood
eitherway, I use herbals and think they have a lot of upside.
I didnt take it to heart, at that time I had five woman out in the kitchen cooking up a storm getting ready for this weekends charity drive for the downs syndrome kids of Pirie, still out there as it happens,
I had little "R.J" on my lap having a feed,
two fellers from next door wanted to "borrow" the shed to do a couple minor repairs to something
then the "bombshell from the dragon about selling the house
to be honest I really didnt take that much notice of the answer to my post, I throw "stuff" around, sounds funny to me at the time but I have a strange sense of humour at times
far easier to withdraw the post and just get on with what is important
if i find that I "upset" too many people then I will just cease to post and withdraw my membership, there is a lot going on in my life just now, far too much for squabbling
Didn't upset me Dave. I post things I think may be of interest or use-ful. It's up to the individual whether or not they chose to use the information provided. Cheers, xina.
Good attitude mate, have a mumble to yourself in the corner and say bugger em, dont discontinue posting, as the saying goes, -------"you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all the time' you have a great day
thanks Mike, I dont like recomending one thing over another and I dont like to "hijack" xenas excellent post but we have had enormous success with a product called "elmore oil"
we had it recommended to us by freinds and so we sceptically tried it and found that it works for all sorts of arthritis
the website can be found here ....http://www.elmoreoil.com.au/
they do post out at a reasonable cost and take all major credit cards, I have dealt directly with them for a number of years now without a problem. just the opposite in fact, service is top shelf
