buggered.gifA little difficult to read the image you have provided Wombat, especially on these Laptop screens. Any chance of a web link to the original or a PDF version? reading.gif

Sorry mate hadn't thought about the size when I posted it .  I find if I save images into say a doc file  then  open it and use the zoom tool  it will bring the image up to a readable standard .  If I can find the original then I will  post their web site to your PM location .  This is not the same site but they also have a ection on Antenna selection  www.rfi.com.au

if you open the file then run your cursor down to the bottom right of your screen (dont open up the shortcut bar though) you will find a built in "zoom" tool place your cursor on the little arrow and a selection of percentage increases will present itself, select 200% and you will be able to read it easily

dont forget to reset it back to 100% though or you will get sore eyes

I refer to windows vista,

in the bottom right hand corner there should be a little "lock" and then a little magnifying glass with 100% written next to it, if you place your cursor over the little black triangle next to the 100% then left click on it a set of zoom numbers will appear, choosing a higher value will "magnify it" a lower figure will reduce the size

Thanks mate , still using XP on this unit . How does your unit open up forum pics in vista . If I click on the view image it just opens it up . If I need to enlarge it then I need to save it into another program like windows fax viewer then I can go up down as I please.

May be we are at crossed circuits on this. Either way what ever works for you is fine

handshake.gif I'm using XP Pro too Wombat, but with Internet Explorer 8. This version is no different to 6 or 7 with regard to changing of the magnification ratios, which can be done either by clicking on the magnifying (+) glass next to the 100% immediately above the task bar clock (assuming the IE window is maximised) or you can select various other magnifications if you place your cursor on and click that little black inverted triangle immediately to the right of the 100%. nod.gif

teamwork.gif Having said all the that though, it now appears that your original image has now mysteriously changed from when I first tried to read it!  whisper.gif

And I have no trouble in reading it now, albeit a little blurred clap.gif

Mate. the entire system is on all auto updates and if it doesn't do it when I open up then it not happening, but I will check . I still like to save the image and then open it with Fax window viewer and zoom or what ever . I might have to get vista at some stage what's your view on vista as an operational platform

vista is a good program but it doesnt like to play nice with other programs, I have all sorts of "stuff" on my computer most legal but some are, shall we say, "borrowed" and not "technically" legal

I have had enormous problems with getting vista to run and co-operate with a lot of these programs and some it just doesnt want to know about, up dates MUST be kept up, auto update must be kept on and I also use the search facility under"start" to get new updates

I also have to go to the manufacturers website occasionally to download "fixes" and "patches". this can be a right pain but I built this monster and I want everything to have all the bells and whistles to go with it, but thats just me

if you have xp pro then I would be very loathe to update to vista, xp does much the same and the reprogramming of newer features is much more simple and easier and it plays nice with most programs

updating a computer should not be a trip down terror lane, just go "start" - "all programs" -"windows update" - and wait and see if any are available, then if they are then download them, too easy

I'm no techno geek but I enjoy the challenge, I taught myself how to operate the new cat d11N and it is full of all sorts of electronic gadgetry

I built this computer from scratch, nothing too hard, it's the same as building a house (which I have also done) just go step by step, everything is hard until you understand a little about it

I'm not trying to be a smart ass here but be prepared to just try something that is just outside your comfort zone every now and then, if you fail, who the hell cares, do better next time

Good on you Sir Dave06,

I've been building my own computers, and for those who have financial and technical difficulties, for nearly a decade.

My familiarity with Maestro Gates regime and that which he has left to his right-hand man Herr Ballmer to continue, has always made me very wary of leaving my perfectly well functioning operating systems, to the trust and mercy of a regime that can and does, send 'Updates' down the pipeline that could render ones beloved machine to do things that are not always desirable.
'Nuff said on that subject though, as I feel that we are drifting 'Off Topic' UHF Antenna Selection Guide.
But before I close on the subject of Operating Systems, may I please offer the following two links for anyone who would like to know more about their Windows Operating Systems. The first link 'Tweakguides' is the creation of an awesome young Australian genius and is my preferred reference tool.

Enjoy,

yep I'd agree with that and I have had to, on quite a few occasions, uninstall updates for varying reasons, mostly they keep throwing my epson stylus 650 photo printer drivers in the bin, I use wireless around the house with the dragons laptop and even now it will not allow the printer to "come on line" after the last update

I am not against vista, I think it is a reasonable program I am just not sure if I would recommend it to someone who hasnt a modicom of computer knowledge

I know of a couple of computer techies who love vista simply because of the income it generates, the old "my printer doesnt work anymore" or some other thing keeps these fellers in quite a reasonable income bracket

as I stated I am certainly not a "techy" this was my first construction of a computer, my last one got an overload of dust, caused a short in the motherboard and it cost me $1,400 to repair and update so when it happened again I just trolled through ebay and built a monster for about $600 (from memory) completely brand new and all up to modern specs including dvd drive and dvd burner and a huge 400 gig sata hard drive

whats more I enjoyed "tinkering" with it, all drivers come with the various components and it really is that simple to construct a good one at a good price as you are well aware, all off the shelf stuff
