Now all we need is cars, vans and trailers to come under the same rules and we can do away with the states sticking their nose in just for the revenue collection aspect . The States want to control roads and regos but when it comes to the funding the pot holes they immediately want to push it back to the feds as their problem .

Just like any good boss "If it works it's his idea If it fails it's yours"

lets keep the different regos but abolish the state governments, then if it has to be controlled by a central body you will be amazed at how quickly the services get "centralised"

Then they'll have to agree on how and where to distribute the revenue.
It was supposed to be put back into the road network infrastructure, but is it?
Who knows. Cheers Chris

Hi all. How do you NSW people get on. Say you sellup and go on the road as a GN. You have a 2004 cruiser & van. You have no rellies. Rego comes up you are in Perth. How do you do your rego. Dont you have to have a green or blue or pink or yellow slip.

I have been in Qld for more than 12 months.
I was told I should change it to the state I was in if I was staying for more than 3 months.
However I advised them I was travelling and wouldn't be in any state for very long.
My mail goes to a mail box my daughter has, and she sends the mail out to me in a pre-paid express bag.
My '95 80 series is still registered in WA.
The bottom line is to keep the vehicle registered no matter what state you're travelling through at the time it's due for renewal.
It gives you a chance to shop around and get registered in the cheapest state.
I had to change my comprehensive insurance because it was with the RAC in WA, but because the vehicle isn't garaged in that state I had to find a national insurer. Currenlty Allianz. Shop around which is best value for you.
Safe and happy travels. Cheers Chris
