Wireless motion-detecting alarm ..

Hi there ..

After looking around on the net at alarm systems .. I'm getting confused !

.. I'd like to have a simple .. wireless type, motion detecting alarm system with a loud alarm to use in my MH (when it finally arrives) ..

Powered simply by batteries (or modified later) and and has a 'delay' for arming and disarming purposes .. reasonably portable, in that I would be able to just pick it up to take with me if I choose to use it in a different location.

I'd be keen to hear from anyone who has found something similar that they are happy with .. the approx. cost and where it may be obtained ..

(don't provide specific details on your own personal installation)

with thanks .. Jon

Hi Jon,
If you go back to page 3 of the Techies' corner sit, about halfway down, Wombat posted some info. on what you're after [I think.]
It's under the heading SIMPLE VAN ALARM.
Cheers,
xina.

thanks Xina ..

I did a 'search' before but nothing came up .. I might have to check what I'm doing next time ..

Dicky Smiths did have one that I liked actually .. and probably what will suffice ..
Primarily, I do want it to respond to movement within the MH (have no curtains) .. but mainly to be used when just away for short periods ..

Incidentally .. good luck with selling your house ! .. I have managed to get past that stage and just waiting now for MH delivery which is due .. Lotsa folk heading out and doing the same these days ..

hi jonathan.        have you ever thought of getting yourself a dog, they become real mates and i dont know of any lurker that wants to tangle with a dog.    a mate used to have a sony tape recorder with a recording of a savage dog,any lurkers at night would not hang around.

Hi Jon,

I have a Dick Smith one I bought years ago, works off batteries only, very high pitched scream and has time delay on exit/entry with keypad code. I don't have mine fixed and place it where I want it to be, not sure if that is the same one you have looked at in Dick's but it may be or an updated version. Sorry I do not have a pic of it to show you.

Hi KenMarg ..

While I have an affection for for most living animals and enjoyed the companionship of "Sonny" for many years .. ('Lassie' with short hair), at this point of embarking on my new 'future' I won't be travelling with any pets ..
'Barking Dog' alarms are very good and I've not ruled them out .. but finding one of quality that's not overpriced is difficult ..

No worries Jon, leaving a battery operated radio on inside helps too, they dont' know if you or someone else is in there or not.

dick smith has one and you can hook up a seperate alrm to mount outside now looking for flashing light to go with it so those nearby can ID the source and take note of who's in the area
.

On the road at moment will post more if need when I get home .

My set up cost around 50 dollars so far works well has to remote key pads to disarm and arm from out side the van annex etc

.. thanks Wombat 280

I have seen a good one, just basic, for $30.00 .. but I've found out that I'll have to check out a few different DSE stores as each have their own preferred stock on their shelves ..

Bunnings sell them too, I've had one for a while, passive infared, Arlec mounted inside on the roof, I think I paid $60 for it.... very effective.
