The Ranger.

Has a bit of a run in with the Rude Ranger. We stayed at Northaven near Laurieton nsw for a few days recently.I took my dog "Wally"down to the off leash section of the beach. Not a soul in site, off we went happy little vegemites, skipping and jumping along the sand.Noticed a couple with a large dog enter the beach behind me.As the caught up with us my dog went to say hello to their dog via the usual method, tail wagging, bum sniffing etc.I kept on walking whilst the dogs played around(no played in the sand chasing).Called my dog, kept on walking. No Goodays or hellos from the people with the dog.The guy had a pretend police type uniform with Ranger flashes on the shoulders.I took my dog up to the sand hills whilst the other people turned round and went backfrom whence they had come from.I headed back down the beach and my dog chased after the other dog.I caught up with the couple and large dog.The super Ranger came over to me and said"My dog does not want to play with your dog",he then informed me that as it was an off leash area I still had to have my dog under control.I said fair enough, have you got your dog under control?Oh dear what a sensative chappie we have here,if looks could have killed I would have been in a body bag.I have to warn you that if I see your dog not controlled again I will breach you with a $300 fine. Why is that I asked?because he looks as though he is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier,no mate he is in fact a Kakadu Aboriginal tracking dog.I dont think he believed me.He just turned around tripped over his dog, gave me the evil eye and Goose stepped away to the carpark where his Panzer 4wd was parked.Wally is in fact an English Staffie,I guess if I had told him that he would of reumed hostilities with the writer.Don't mention the war,to quote Basil from Fawlty Towers.Well that was my morning walk.Cheers.Ibbo.

A Kakadu Aboriginal Tracking Dog...................sounds good to me. I want one.!!! Can I have pick of the litter when he sires?

Hope the rest of your trip is better mate.

Alas and Alack,Wallys knackers are in a jar on the mantleshelf. We are back home now.I did repent and ask for forgivness from the manager of the Local Bottle Shop,he gave me some advice along the lines of"Go Forth andMultiply",being a gentle and loving soul,I wished him the same............I think he was a Relo of the Ranger because he frothed at the mouth and pushed me outside his shop.Cheers.Ibbo.

Ahhhhhh yes, council rangers a law unto themselves....Boy have I got some stories about them.... A mate who is a Vietnam vet owns a busness on Canterbury rd where lovely Vietnamese girls provide a genuine massage service, strictly theraputic ( must go back and get my fingers massaged).... So one day this council ranger bursts in, runs down the corridor and bursts into a room where there is a bloke getting his neck and shoulders massaged and the Ranger takes pictures and claims this bloke is actually having sex with the masseuse and declares the place an illegal brothel and breaches Laurie under the land use laws.... It got amusing in court as the Magistrate was also a customer, had to excuse himself and got on the side of truth and justice and told the world the place is a wholesome establisment. Upshot was Canterbury Council had to fork out costs all round and pay recompense to the client and the Ranger for his valiant efforts was sent to the queue at centrelink.....

Then there is the ACT Loan Ranger who patrols the River corridors looking for people with dogs off leash..... He and I exchanged words and so now when I take Gracie for a swim I have her on a 20 metre leash, "Dog must be on a leash Sir, but I don't care how long it is"....

Just remember Ibbo, these guys are trained in the art of imbecilia

And just how did the ranger tell that his dog didn't want to play with your dog is it just another hidden talent rangers get each day when they pull on the uniform .  Other questions that could arise, was the ranger on duty  and if so why wasn't he doing what they normally do ( yet to be determined ) rather than walking his dog, rangers are not issued with patrol dogs in NSW .  Ranger or not the rules apply to all and using the threat of imposing fines because your dog was wanting to play with his dog  is an abuse of his limited powers .  It sounds like it was a council ranger not NSWNP, you would be hard pressed to get a NSWNP ranger out of the office in Port to even show you where the sand was .

Wombat, the Ranger was with a female person taking his or her dog walkies whilst either being a good and dutiful partener or having a sly and devious alliance. He was in fact a Council Ranger so he must have failed the NPWL enterance exam.He did not display a name tag,he didn't have to I suppose as they all have the same name,Richard Head.I will continue sticking pins into my Ranger Voodoo Doll, wont tell you the spots but I bet he will wish that he had never come across an AboriginalTracking Dog.(Ancient).Cheers.Ibbo.

just giving people a uniform is no instant guarantee of a brain coming with it, give a wanker a uniform and he or she is still a wanker, only now the wanker has some power!

I respect the respect you guys thrust upon these "authorities". It's all the respect they deserve.
Why is it we can see the Richard Craniums for what they really are, but the people who employ them can't. The public relations these blokes represent for the organisations doesn't give a very good impression.
Report the bugger I say. He's misrepresenting his employer. He's abusing his "authority" in the name of personal arrogance. Ask his dog what he thinks of his owner. Better still, have your "ancient aboriginal tracking dog" ask his dog how he feels about his master's attitude.
Yeah, report him. He has no right to carry on like that when he's off duty, uniform or no uniform. In fact he has no right to behave like that ever, to anyone. Cheers Chris
