filling up with deisel

im not good on maths , so need some help ,
we got a 3litre turbo diesel engine with a 120 l tank
just wondering how much it would cost to fill up, which we havent done yet.
been told we should get 800-900 ks, auto, with cruise control.

any one know? or have something similar, diesel seems to be around the same as petrol now..

diesel here in Adelaide currently $121.99 so
120L X 121.99=$146.38.

lets say you use 15 litres per 100K

120litre tank divided 15 = 8

so 8 x 100 = 800KM

if you don't get 15l/100 just subsitute your figure in the first formula

To work out L/100KM

1.Fill tank to first click on pump, record odometer reading
2.When you refuel ,fill to first click again, record fuel used
3.Record odometer reading
4.subtract first odometer reading from second gives you milage travelled
5. Divide kilometers travelled  by number of litres put in at step 2

Gary, This calculation would give you kms/litre

For L/100 km divide the litres used by the hundreds of kms traveled L/(km/100).

In your example above, divide Litres used by 8 = L 100/km thus 120 divided by 8 = 15L/100km

I hope this makes sense.

Cheers

That's my philosophy too Dave. I plan to travel, but I don't always have a travel plan.
Fuel is the major expense. When the cash runs out I'll have to stop for a while, then do it all over again.
You won't enjoy it if you count everything - dollars, kms, fuel prices, day to day expenses etc. Just do it! Cheers Chris
