Dear!!! My name is Anh and I am student in Swinburne University of Technology. I am doing the project that is named " Design service for Grey Nomads in 2030". This survey supports me to find what your needs and your thought are. I confirm that all information that just support my project. Thanks Thanks very much for your help. ------------------------ 1)How old are you? 2)what is your gender? 3)What do you do? (are you retired or do you have a job?) 4)Who do you go with when traveling in your caravan? 5)Do you like to travel by yourself? why don't you take a tour? 6)How long do you take your travel?and how often do you have your trip? 7)What do you normally do in your trip? 8)Do you like to do some small business during your travel? (It means that you makes some goods and sale it during your trip?) 9)How many places did you travel for a trip? (which places?) 10)What do you need for your travel (tools, some carry-stuff) 11)Why do you like to travel with your caravan? 12)What do you interest when traveling with your caravan? 13) Do you concern about Carbon dioxides when traveling? If yes, what do you do to reduce Carbon dioxides when traveling on your caravan? 14)Can you tell me one of your journey.

This survey helps me to understand more about Grey Nomad. From this, I can think the service does not only fix with Grey Nomad's needs, but also reduce Carbon dioxides.
Firstly, I thought that I could make a group of Grey Nomads (4 couples or more couples) can go in the one huge caravan. It may reduce CO2 but it is impossible because you like freedom, like to do what you want. If I gather you with others to live and have to follow some rules. Do you like ? I am a person who want to be a Grey Nomad in the future so I can understand what is the freedom.
Afterthat, do you know what I am thinking?. I think that I can improve and create a new modern caravan - electric caravan. You can charge your electric Caravan in Green Station (where it produces electric by solar or wind) which is located in different area. It can be worked in 2030 because there are amazing technology can make it and you don't need to pay for fuel anymore. What do you think?
It is cool thought, It is really help. You think your caravan is your house and your house can be everywhere. Is that right? If you travel like this, are there any problem to travel by caravan? I means that some trouble to prepare food or carry big water tank, unsafe to live out, ect? ---- Anh

Hello Anh,
Welcome to the forum and best wishes with your research and studies.
I can't help but think that hydrogen will be the motor fuel of the future. I understand that it takes considerable amount of energy to "manufacture" the hydrogen in the first place and this where we may see fit to "clean up our act" regarding the by-products of electricity generation.
(ok pedants, I know, I know, how do you manufacture an element with an atomic weight of one.....hence the quotes around "manufacture")
Hi Anh. Dont forget that many caravans and mobile homes are already fitted with solar panels to generate electricity when away from mains power. As this technology improves, we may never have to plug in! Cheers.
Anh you have missed the point of a lot of our posts, if you read them you will see that a hell of a lot of us actually dont draw off the grid power at all we use solar/battery or alternator power
when you say carbon dioxide emissions these must be offset by our non presence of "on the grid" power, we travel and that would be our only emissions output (except for some of our more flatulant personell)
once parked up, and that could be a day, a week or a year, we emit nothing, this must come into the equation of carbon emissions if anything we are carbon bouyant not neutral
as for placing six or eight of us in the one van, mate seven would be dead within a week with me, outside around the campfire is one thing, inside snoring and farting and wheezing is another, I predict mass murder within a week
now you say you understand grey nomads, WILL YOU EXPLAIN THE MADNESS TO ME, cos I bloody dont!
our vehicle is our home and home is where we are camped!!

Sorry, I am really ! to let you be offset about CO2. Anyway, I don't mean the power you use when parking; but I concerned about fuel when driving on the ways.
not sure whether your survey will suit many people in 2030.
2030? suits me fine. gunna get Milo to drive me around.

Thanks for replying and help me! This survey supports me to understand about Grey NOmad at the present. Form this, I can find out Grey Nomad problem , I try to design service for them. Actually, it it not survey to give Grey Nomad who will be in 2030.!
Just , Please,, tell me whatever you have any problems or difficulties when traveling. Anything, like stories., it cana be helpful.!

well Anh when we travel the actual distance is not great (when we have the time) therefore our greenhouse co2 levels should be insignificent, we just daudle along and stop when we get the urge, we would produce a lot more co2 if we were home watching the idiot box
the problems that we face of course are the usual ones, illness, expenses, traffic, breakdowns, deaths births and marriages (all of which we must be present for)
i dont know what you wish to understand we are simply old farts who prefer to travel and not sit on our freckle waiting to die in some old folks storage unit or in a house that we cant keep the maintenence up to anymore
we simply choose a "different" lifestyle, we are no different to anyone else
we still do what all other oldies do but we do it on the trip, prick us we bleed!
Hi Cana, I'm a bit of a late comer, due to the bad health of the technology I use eg external hard drive. To answer your questions in order: 1 59 2 Female 3 Retired - travelling writer 4 I travel alone 5 I travel to destinations of my choice and may take tours sometimes. 6 I live in caravan full time, and travel when I decide to 7 I like to learn about the towns, the community and the district history etc lifestyle and sightseeing. 8 Not really. Just writing hoping to get published. 9 Wherever along the way and special sights. 10 Spare wheels - 2 for each vehicle. Took kit, hoses and power leads, annexe extensions, outdoor cooker, table and chairs, cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, food - fresh and frozen. The portable fridge is my deep freeze. 11 It's my home, and where I'm parked is where I live. It provides secure shelter as I'm caravan parks most of the time. 12 Travelling at 85kph the country changes every 100kms or less. I enjoy the country I'm passing through. 13. My vehicle is diesel, 4.2litre, and I use injector cleaner and smoke retardant for oil and fuel, and slow acceleration ensures my emissions are minimal. 14 Longest trip - 12 months - Broome to the Daintree passing through every state except NT - 2007-2008 after living in caravan in Broome for 9 years. Health: There are doctors in most places and will see travellers as well as their regular, local patients. I have been slowed down by health issues, which will be resolved by surgery in the next few weeks. Doctors will renew prescriptions which can be filled at any pharmacy. Some drs will check for any changes and tests may have to be taken. I carry a medical record to advise any doctors where I'm up to and what I take for it. It's not been a problem. All the best with your studies, and this may add a different dimension to your questions. Cheers Chris
