RE: Camp Oven Comparisons

Hey Cooks n Bottle Washers,

Have kust been shown one of the "CobbOvens" and am very curious, the owman reckons no more than 6 heat beads at a time and it does an awesome chook....my reservation is the black things that make everything dirty and are a real pain to get going (never had luck with them at all) I am sure its a love hate relationship, I hat them and they love to hate me....

I have a penchant desire for an OzPig (www.ozpig.com.au) also, as I too will not go without fire, must be the caveman in me...I have the traditional old 3 burner gas stove wit the accompanying 9kg bottle at present and am seriously considering my options.

But, at $350 ($295 plus $45 p&h) for the OzPig and another $270 for the Cobb things are getting expensive, I have a 12qt cast iron camp oven from KFart which is yet to be used so I am at a crossroads of quandary as to which way to travel especially considering I am a relative newbie at all of this camp oven stuff...

I am looking at a trip to Tassy in June/July so the OzPig is looking far more promissing at this stage due to its ability to act as a heater while cooking in the cast iron and heating the billy at the same time.

The thlot plickens.......

Which way do I go...............

Hoo Roo Happy Days
