Hi we,re new to caravanning just short trips so far and loving it . We would like to know if anyone has used Therma Shield paint? Is it as good as they say and is it easy to apply? Haves anyone done the whole van or just the roof? Cheers
Welcome to the forum Frogandtoad, love the rhymimg slang! I personally haven't used the therma shield paint but I'm sure someone will have an idea what it's like. Enjoy the forum, ask plenty of questions. We've been vanning for nearly thirty years and are still asking questions.
Terro.

Our motor-home (As seen in my Avatar to the left) has been coated 9 times with the paint you mentioned. Two of the coats were the required foundation of 'Penetrol' which must be applied first, to achieve maximum 'Grip' for the 'Therma Sheild' paint, which by it's design, is a pliable 'Skin' paint that must have a good key to adhere to properly. The next four coats were the actual 'Therma Sheild Beads' (Base) paint, which in my humble opinion, is easier to apply with a roller rather than a brush, plus you get a thicker coat and a better finish too. The final two coats were the 'Therma Sheild Top Coat' paint, which, provides a very strong seal for all those millions of little glass beads in the four previous coats. It also gives a slight 'Gloss' to the finished work and very much helps to keep the 'Bulldust' from ingraining itself in to your 'Special' paint. We have only applied this very effective product to the roof of our motor-home as this is the only part we feel needs it, not too sure of how effective it would be on the sides but........ Please do bear in mind that this is a 'Skin' paint and is easily damaged by hard objects eg; ladders or chairs etc: All in all, this is a brilliant product which does exactly what it was designed to do, plus, it has also made a remarkable difference to the sound we used to have in the motor-home, no more 'drumming' while driving, and the tropical rain/hail falling on the roof, sounds much nicer too.

Thanks for your help re Thermashield and the welcome can,t wait for husband to retire and we can join in the fun. Although we live in regional vic. we love to get out into the bush to relax have already got my Cob for cooking delious roasts etc. and portable fridge to store the overflow of relaxing liquids. Cheers.
dont be a stranger c.j. just because you are not traveling yet doesn't mean you're not welcome in the nomads, keep up with us, how do you get on with the Cobb???
Thanks dave06 Still fighting with the computer so will make lots of mistakes but i love the cobb i have cooked a lot at home with it and have lent it to a couple of friends who went out and bought one also. We went away last xmas and daughter in law who is a chef and a avid fan of campfire cooking with her big dutch oven burned the leg of lamb and the cobb turned out a perfect roast pork with veg done in the moat which saved the day. The cobbs advantage is you can use it when there are fire restrictions or at a caravan park that dosen,t let you have fires and you don,t have to wait for coals . cheers
