SECONDS OUT - ROUND TWO

I have spent a pleasant couple of weeks in Perth, fixing up some house-keeping issues, re-registering the van, getting it and the Kia serviced, getting my (final?) tax done, getting some new specs and re-stocking the pantry and freezer. I called in to see some of my old work colleagues and copped a proper earful for being as brown as a berry, while they all still had their winter plumage. Gee it upset me - NOT.

I had hoped to be down on the south coast of WA by now, but summer seems to be quite slow in coming this year, it is still pretty cool in southern WA and still some winter pattern weather around, cold-fronts sweeping across the south west and still a fair bit of wind and rain, so I have headed north for a couple of weeks until the big Highs start moving into the Bight. I'm currently at Wannamal (population 4) about 30kms north of Bindoon and I am going to take a big loop through the wheatbelt and come out at Southern Cross and then down to Hyden.

I want to have a look at an area about which I have heard many good things, but never had a chance to see and that is the road from Hyden to Norseman, called the Granite and Woodlands Discovery Trail.

That should take me three or four weeks by which time summer should have arrived fully.

See you soon

Only grubby in your mind Ibbo. Tsk tsk tsk.
If you have a look, being safe means taking precautions against anything which may be a risk to his safety.
I admit it was left open, and I knew someone would jump on it, but definitely neither grubby or smutty my intentions be.
It was all in the mind of the beholder. Tsk tsk tsk Ibbo. Grubby, who me? A little inuendo from time to time maybe, but surely not grubby.

I would have thought that travelling solo meant that I didn't need precautions.

Nice to get a bit of discussion going in the solo forum - been a bit quiet of late

I agree Mike. We need more solo banter - travel banter that is.
We all seem to put our stuff on the general forum and share from there.
I feel like a bit of an imposter at the moment, not being on the road right now.
I want to be. God knows I want to be. The feet itchy thing is driving me mad.
At least I have ambitions to hitch up and go again.
Some people sit home and dream of hitching up and going.
It doesn't matter if it's short camping trips or actual lifestyle trips up, over and around, it's great to fulfill that dream.
I love camping too, but I don't do it with the van. I like to go camping in places where I can't take the van. The van is my home and the means of getting to my next destination to live for a while, from where I do day trips or camping trips - sort of the best of both worlds.
But I'm never bored. I keep busy with my writing, some cooking and meeting people and spending time with friends I make wherever I am.
I do get depressed with the frustration of not being able to get going, but it soon passes.
Take care everyone, and safe travels with "precautions".

Thanks Ibbo, I think your diagnosis is fairly accurate. How perceptive of you.
It's bucketing down up here too. It's not related to the front dropping buckets and balls (rain and hail that is) on the SE Qld and mid-nth NSW coast.
It has been extremely dry up this way since April, and the country looked awful instead of lush and green as we've come to expect.
The bushfire bandits were having a field day and the fire fighters were exhausted chasing the bugs' handy work.
This rain should put at end to that. Even the humidity has been late in coming as the build up to the monsoon season progresses. This rain has brought that up a little according to the steam coming out of the rainforest. I love it!
Thanks for the prognosis and suggested treatment Ibbo. Cheers

Would a nice WA red suffice "doctor Ibbo"? I'll pass on the NZ's if that's ok.
