Pulled up at a roadside rego and booze test today..... So everything is of course in order except the guy doing the rego check says 'Sir the details on your lable are illegible'..... Out I hop and yes the sun had indeed faded them so I said 'yes the sun will do that'. 'Sir it is the owners responsibility to ensure the lable is legible', Ok says I but as you would realise from your computer check the vehicle is registered and the new lable is in the mail and will be affixed by Friday when rego is due. 'Sir please wait one minute, we may have to defect your vehicle due to your negligence in not replacing the lable'...... Another dose of Karvea for Bas was needed..... I am seething, fuming, and thinking "you total sleeze and rectum, what a cretin what an AHOLE!!!!"
Then to my amazement I passed out, collapsed at the roadside and came to a few moments later with a very solicitious Policeman standing over me saying we had better call an ambulance........ Oh it's ok he has come to...... Sir what happened says the friendly cop and I explained that the "rego dude was going to defect the car because even though it was registered the sun had faded the lable and he says it's my fault and it's obviousy the ACT govt's fault for not using UV proof ink......." He says "What was that Sir?" told him again and he goes over to the car and comes back and says yes he had what a total FWIT... says to wait a minute he will sort it and he trots of to speak with the rego idiot and there is a heated exchange.... He comes back with the rego idiot who reads the lable again then the comes over to me (this is the bit that sent me ballistic) says "I'm sorry sir it would appear that I can clear the defect notice for you if you pay the $34 fee....." The cop then goes balistic and tells mr rego fool that the driver aka ME could sue for extortion if he demanded money for this. JUST RIP THE LABLE UP he says.... so he reaches inside the car to remove the lable and Gracie who had been asleep during the mellee wakes up and growls at him, he grabs most of the lable and sprints away into the roadside parkland... The cops all of whom had stopped to watch this entertainment all fell about laughing and I drove off.... Yet another letter to the Chief Minister.... Oh well...

Basil, you have had a warning from your body.Go and have a through check up.As for the Cretin,he should go and live with his brother the Ranger up at Northaven.Don't they really rile you these dip stick despots.Cheers.Ibbo.
As of January 2010 rego labels will no longer be issued.
Saving money no doubt but I don't mind.
They have realised that cops no longer look at the label as in WA there are no vehicle specific details on them anyway, even the serial number is not recorded. All rego checks are done by computer using the license plate.
Take care Basil.
Cheers

Firstly Bas ............I would be doing as everyone else suggests and get a check up. Then I would be writing a few letters to the relevant authorities. What sort of crap was that. Some little upstart trying to exert authority. Too much of that happening to innocent people and the scumbags are getting away with everything. There is no revenue raising by arresting a criminal but they can raise $34 from some poor bloody senior motorist who is using the inferior product that he had to buy at an exorbitant price from them to start with.
Damn....................I am starting to really get peeved at the snot that runs and ruins this perfect country!!!

Dr says it may have been an FFT or an anxiety attack, aparently common among more mature males (but Doc I'm only 61!!!). All symptoms normal today but of course just to be sure to be sure I've had the usual barrage of blood tests, Dr will call if there is a problem.... Makes me want to leave Canberra...

Glad to hear all is good so far Bas!! Hope it keeps that way and the blood tests are okay.
I don't think you should leave Canberra. It became your choice of where to live and no little upstart should chase you away from that. Write a BIG letter and complain bitterly about his behaviour and his attitude and you just might get the apology you deserve. Write one to his department and one to the minister and tell them that there is a copy on the way to the newspapers. If you achieve nothing else at least you might feel better.
We need you to continue with the self-funded investigations.
Don't let the Mongrels win Bas.............do you hear!!
Any luck with the projector globe?

ACT rego labels really are very crummy. My last one came unstuck from the windscreen, and only survived till re-registration time by being held on with sticky tape. I was SO lucky your mates never stopped me Bas!
Maybe we should move to WA until our local toytown catches up?

Oh you are lucky Rosie. I'd reckon that holding them in place with tape would be defacing them and probably get you time @ Mr Machonicies new place....

Please take care Basil. Your confrontation with a twerp with a badge may have been enough to set off a reaction. You know your health better than anyone. I'd like to see you hang around a bit longer.

Dr tells me that it may have been an interaction with a drug called Proscar (for secret mens business) and Karvea that momentarly dropped my blood pressure.... I'm off the Proscar, didn't bloodywell work anyway.... Such interactions are "rare" she says, I said thank god I was not driving, I could have killed Gracie. The interaction at the time was probably the trigger, so I'm no longer allowed to fume when accosted by beaureacrats....

Now Basil, if you can't fume when accosted by bureaucrats, what will you do for fun and recreation now? Just take care. You can't control the drugs which manage your health, and it's a crock when they conflict. Just take care. We're not finished with you yet.
