I have just read that the goverment intends to re introduce the bill to means test the private health insurance rebate. The health minister Nicola Roxon states that only a few people would drop out of private health if the rebate was means tested. Will be interesting to see at what level the cut off will apply. We pay about $280 pm now, any more increases and it will be come unaffordable for us.
Makes you wonder sometimes if it is worth it. I mean it has benefits but we still have to pay gaps and extras...............gets harder all the time.............. and I'm working full time.

If at First You Don't Succeed.......Redefine Success !!
I remember reading about this a few weeks ago. I believe the cut off threshold income is realistic. Well, I thought they were reasonable anyway. I just can't recall where I read it - maybe a notice from my private health ins provider. Don't panic until you have to. Keep the blood pressure down until you know the facts. If it looks unreasonable, protest like hell. If it looks like you're going to be disadvantaged, protest like hell, and rally everyone you know to protest on your behalf, or if they're also affected, then you can call protest together. Nothing gets done if nothing is done. In the mean time, relax, hurry up and wait.
