That curse Dengue fever is again rife in Cairns and Townsville. The conditions are ideal for the Mossies to breed with humidity and rain.I have seen the suffering and pain this fever causes when my wife had it not so long ago.Take care if you live or are travelling to N.Queensland.My info comes from an article in the Suncoast Daily.Cheers.Ibbo.
Yes the dreaded dengue is back up this way. It's only been raining over the last week and any stored, unprotected water, is where the little buggers breed. eg pot plant saucers, buckets, tyres lying around, etc. We've only been officially dengue free for a couple of months. The symptoms are like the flu, but not so intense, but if anyone has any lung health issues, diabetes or susceptible to infection, they are considered to be in the "vulnerable group". An elderly, unwell lady died in Cairns earlier this year. I think it's the preferred option to Ross River Virus which can keep recurring for years. The symptoms are similar to glandular fever. Damn mozzies!
