Yes Milo they made it look good when are you off again ,they were in outback Queensland did that trip to Cairns last year, people in the outback more friendly I felt than the people who travel on the coast line

They also checked out Port Smith south of Broome, the trips up the Dampier Peninsula, to the horizontal waterfall, revealing the lifestyle of grey nomads.
I'm a bit nervous they made it too glamorous and everyone will want to do it.
Nah! It's a great lifestyle and really demonstrates how to live without all the clutter which comes with houses and real estate.
It was a great promotion for the lifestyle.

Yes I did notice the Winnies just a tad.... Maybe they paid for the segment?

Milo
I might be able to throw some light on the Pt Smith ect that was on telle.
While we were at Pt Smith, Grant Dennier [spelling] was there doing a story on a nomad that they were followng arround from camp to camp , and as we were told there was to be a series on the nomads travels ,as yet havent seen any.
Grant was there on a thursday, which was fish and chip night [put on by management] Grant was felling the effects of his back so didnt show.

They also did a trip on the True North up the coast and into the horizontal waterfalls. The exposure a show like gives a place or whatever is priceless.
I haven't been to Pt. Smith, but I do love Barn Hill. Similar set up during the tourist season.
Barn Hill will take guests out of the season, even just a day trip, and it's not so busy.
Grant hosted the segment on Sunday night, and I had a feeling there was more to come.
Maybe it was to follow the couple in the Winnie. What does it matter? We all choose the rig best suited to our needs.
A huge box with windouts everywhere doesn't appeal to me. The maintenance must be horrendous, and when things break down the costs must be equally horrendous.
I'll stick to my little aluminium box with staples.

Port Smith ,great spot ,caught a big queenie there , donated it to the fish/chip night

A walk around the logoon as the tide goes out with a rod in hand ,just great,

To think there was 6/8 mtrs of water there a few hours earlier .smile

Big tides are the order of every day up that way. Derby has up to 12 metres, and Broome gets 10+metres king tides, sometimes twice in the month.
It's an amazing phenomenon to watch the tide create rapids on its way out.
Moored boats face the tide instead of the wind as they usually do in less torrential tides.
Derby even has a festival on the weekend of "King Tide Day", usually in Sept or Oct.
It also created havoc with anchor drag in my prawn fishing days.

And as for that queenie, not the best fish to be caught in those waters. Fun to catch, but chuck it back and wait for a threadfin salmon, fingermark, triple tail, snapper, blue bone to take the bait.
