well thats a shame, see I'm pissadointed now! would've loved to see panda cubs charging around the joint
my brother in wallaroo is livid
"bloody Panda's, $8 million dollars and we cant build one house to get our homeless off the street, skin the mongrels and feed them to the poor starving pensioners who's eating dogfood"
he has a point!
apparently when they come in "season" the female is only receptive for four days, the male is only willing for two,
a bit like me and the dragon really!!!
............. just like father xmas............... "only comes once a year"
when I die I'm coming back as a tablecloth...."laid three times a day and pulled off every night"..........
hell where's my header, two days off and I'm going stir crazy! cant stand sitting on my freckle!
I got a call (one of many) from a woman in sydney last night, broke up with her boyfreind 3 years ago, big fight over the kids (as usual violance and assault was on the menu)
he told her that he was coming over xmas morning to destroy the tree, presents and quote................... "give her and the kids a hiding" end quote
how would you like that hanging over you on xmas!!!
Been there, done that - didn't like it. No amount of protection or restraining orders will stop a desperate control freak determined to control. He'd do anything, without considering the consequences, and if the law catches up with him and throws him in jail, "if", then it's all her fault. No one wants to take responsibility for their actions. She must be living in absolute terror he'll follow up with his threats. And to hurt the kids to hurt her - The law and the mental health system is letting them all down. I hope the lady and her children will find safe haven somewhere, and that her family and friends support her over this precious time of the year. Maybe she could hire Ducky and his "shooting" mentality on this occasion.

I think we could use quite a few "shooter mentality" minded folk, just give me their names and I will supply targets
I sit with all my "family" here around the table at xmas and other gatherings, the ranks often swell beyond fifty, our biggest worry is not enough chairs, or Pops knee is not big enough to hold all my "grandkids",
I could not and would not like to even imagine the terror she and a thousand others are going through, they have nowhere to go, all "safe houses" are full, and then there is no protection guarantee when they are there,
this is the third time we have moved this particular girl and her kiddies, he keeps finding her, I have applied for another removal order and I can only hope it gets done in time,
it takes time as no "death threat" has actually been made, I think I will "fudge" the records a bit on this one, I got a bad feeling! I've been down this road before many times
to dread and actually fear xmas would be the worst of torments, every day is a struggle, xmas for a lot of folk is just one mountain too high
in some ways I absolutely hate xmas, but in other ways, when I can "shut off" I adore it
but I'm gonna make an appointment to see those pandas next year before china spits the dummy with us and takes them back!
who gets the cubs if they do produce, afterall being born here they are australian citizens!!! so technically belong to us.
Let every day from this day on be Christmas. Keep the spirit and the love.
The fact this bloke hasn't threatened to kill is irrelevant. He's threatening the safety and well-being of his children and their mother. Does he have to kill before the authorities listen? It's happened this way too many times before. She, her children and thousands like her need to be protected. They have a right to a peaceful and happy life, and someone gives these b...tards too much power so they can continue to wreak havoc on the people they once professed loved. The shelters and safe houses are over loaded. There has to be more done to ensure these people live in safety and peace. After more than 25 years my emotions are still raw, and even my children have suffered abuse at the hands of their partners. Is it my fault? No, but somehow I feel responsible.
Let's cuddle the pandas, and eventually their off-spring, and we'll just have to promise the Chinese we'll keep buying their produce if they let us keep the Panda cubs and their parents. They're endangered and play their part on this planet. Keep the spirit and the love.

Shut up Ducky! You muck raking trouble maker with a smile on your dial and your tongue firmly in your cheek - with the emphasis on CHEEK. I don't care who agrees or disagrees with me. Speech is still free in this country, for the time being, and let's keep it that way.

I saw on live TV this morning the Pandas have taken to good old Aussie bamboo. That'll knock the chinks out of the arguements about food.... Distressingly they also have replaced the original "Popeyes" with fibreglass ones... It's been a while since I visited Adelaide zoo, must have been upgraded and reno'd....

Aw you mean buggers! Fur coast? Really! They eat bamboo, so I'll just wear my shirt made of bamboo fibre and you can keep your Panda fur which is really a by-product of bamboo anyway.
Hey why not gather all the Adelaidian Bimbos at the Zoo and have a wet bamboo t shirt competition?????

the adelaide zoo is now world class and has been modified and updated beyond belief it is now a fantastic place to spend a day we try to get down there at least once a year
we stay at the adelaide caravan park in a "luxury villa" with spa if you dont mind (which we dont use as I see them as filthy water wasters, but thats another story) the park is a gentle ten minute stroll along the river torrens to the zoo, another five minutes to the botanical gardens and another ten to the mall and central markets
apparently the keepers went over to china and started "acclimatising" the pandas with aussie tucker a few months before they left, they took to it like ducks to water, wouldnt eat the chinese stuff at all,
apparently they were hungry again ten minutes after eating the chinese bamboo (boom! boom!)
Dave0 is that the park off Hackney Road or Dequeteville Terrace.? Jeez excuse my memory. I used to be a courier driver in Adelaide, based in Norwood, and now I've forgotten the roads and how to spell them. Is it a spacy comfortable park?

"richmond street Hackney", website states it is 2 kilometres from cbd
all I know is it's one of only a handfull of parks that I actually like to stay in, a lovely walk along the banks of the torrens to all of adelaides attractions, a true set up and go for a walk park
it's not what by any stretch of the imagination could be called a "spacious" park, I dont think there are any drive through sites also numbers are very limited
it mostly caters to "cabin style" accomodation and has possibly 30 sites at most probably 15 of those are tent or non powered, a nice pub just up the road with good meals and pizza delivered to the cabin door
most visitors to adelaide either dont come into town with the vans (prefering to stay at hahndorf or mount barker) then taking the bus in to town, it runs every twenty minutes weekdays and every half hour weekends,
about three dolars each way from memory, the stop is right at the gates to the Hahndorf c/park, and drop off is just outside Harris scarfes (I think)
some stay at the boliver c/park, havent been to that one yet so cant comment but the Hahndorf and mount barker ones are spacious, cheap and most sites are drive through
although Hahndorf park is starting to get a bit run down now

I think I'd stay out at Bolivar. I lived out there in the late 70's, but the last time I drove past it looked much better with that huge buffer bank to keep some of the Pt. Wakefield Rd noise out.
There's another park in the eastern suburbs, Norwood I think, but it could be noisy and squeazy. The Hackney pub used to go great meals, and it sounds like they still do.
Now Ducky I thought you were a zoo resident. Did they take your key away? Aw, poor Ducky.

Dave just sits and waits polishing up the twelve guage, I think no 6 shot oughta put a kink in his little plan
that bank at boliver should in theory cut out the noise but how do you cut out the traffic trying to get in and out, and the smell from the bolivar treatment works,
nah spa cabin for me in the adelaide c/park and then walkies to get some goodies and to quench the dragons retail therapy cravings
if I was pressed to stay in a park with a van down there it would be the one out at adelaide shores, but outside appeals more, mount barker and a bus in to town through the magnificent afelaide hills
I've heard some reports of bad hospitality at West Beach. I don't know about Kingston Pk south of Brighton. The prevailing winds keep the smell from the sewerage works from affecting the park. The smell may affect the park on very still nights, and occasionally if the wind changes direction from NW to SW. During the time I and my former partner lived there, I only recall the smell affecting the park on only one occasion. While we lived there there was no high bank or traffic lights along the highway. When the trucks or hoons left the roadhouse there was a bit of traffic noise, as well as the semi's on the highway. It's a very busy road.
