After updating my Anti-virus program and also resetting some of the options in Internet Explorer 8, I thought I would come to my favourite evening forum and catch up on the latest posts. Once past the forum front page, I suddenly noticed the absence of those vexatious 'Banner Adds' and even looked at several other threads just to make sure they had all gone.
I'm hoping that our Lady Cindy has drawn her sword and managed to cut the pesky things down.
Very well done Cindy.

Fingers crossed, Palebushman. We have been trying but, then again, we have tried and failed before. Maybe we should wait a couple of days before we pop the Champagne corks!
Mr Duck, I also use Mozilla Firfox but still get the ads. I am at a loss as to how to stop them. Not very good when it comes to using all the add ons with Firefox. Do you have any pointers, and keep it clean please. Your remarks not your pointer!!!! LOL.

Terry, Go to the tools menu on Firefox and scroll down to Add ons, left click on that, when the page opens up left click on get Add ons, when that page opens look for Ad Block Plus, install this and then when you see an Add place your mouse pointer on the ad and right click, at the bottom of the pop up menu you should see 2 items relating to Ad Block, click on one of these and add the address to the Ad Block Filter. All shoul now be OK. John

Thanks for that JRH. I am on the works computer at the moment. As soon as I get home and log on I will follow your instructions and blow those ads away. Never had any trouble with the avatars. Now I suppose I will.
Terro.

I'm using both Ad-Block and Flash-Block and find them very good (but not perfect) when it comes to annoying ads. Flash Block blocks a lot of the animations but can be turned on or off as needed and can be set to allow specific sites as desired.
You reckon you are confused??...................................
God love a Duck, me been married 49 years this month what do you expect, confusion is the least of my problems.......LOL
Oh geez now I'm in strife,it is only 48 years and mentioning it felt a bit longer went down like a lead baloon, it sank faster than a thirsty man sinking his first beer for day.
