Hey Ellen................

I'm just wondering how you get the whole family over to India for Christmas?? Must cost a fortune each year.

You are in India aren't you??

You MUST be.........there's no call centres left in Australia!!

smile We already had 16 family members for the full Chrissy spread last Saturday. Turkey, Lamb, Pork six vgies, all the trimmings. Obviously we all ate (and drank) too much. Repeated the process next day for several of the other side of the family. Now the van is packed and off to the Central coast to enjoy another Christmas Day ( the real one with the youngest members) with another dozen or so family members, this time, its seafood all the way.

Wishing you all a safe and happy Christmas, whatever your faith. As they say where I come from Nadolig Llawen a Bluwddyn newydd hapus.smile

a bit different for us this year...
We came over to Aus in 1987 (me, wife, daughter) Daughter now has 3 kids.
Up until this year it's been the "tradition" for the 6 of us to have the day at our house (Christmas lights on 24th then kids and daughter sleepover and up early for Santa on 25th - traditional English Hot roast at lunchtime, turkey, chook, pork and vegies and christmas pud with brandy sauce...)
Different this year:
Daughter and kids 6 hours north of broken hill managing a property - so they have to take care of stock and watering etc - so will travel in on 24th - ours for tea on 25th and then have to go back to the property on 26th...
So it's lobster, oysters, crabs, pies and picky-things for the kids - and we are putting together a giant hamper for them to take back on 26th...
We're off to Cuddle Creek SA on 27th for a week...
It will be different not having them for all of Christmas Day

reinvigorate the family ties, even if it wasnt your fault, if you have a long running feud with someone then chrissy is the best time to say "stuff it come and have a beer"

family is forever, cherish the ones you have left

get back in contact, use this time of year as a time for reconcilliation regardless of what went down, put it behind you and enjoy them while you have them, make it good from now on

vegemite sandwiches to oysters just enjoy the day and make it a happy occasion!

Well said Dave. Fortunaltely we don't have any of these sort of problems any more but we did use on Christmas a few years ago to "sort out" some differences. All good now.

On our table this Christmas will be like a lot of others, we are fairly traditional, Turkey, ham, roast leg of lamb, prawn. This year the Boss has decided with help from a daughter in law to attempt some hot vegies. so be it. We have elected for the past twenty five years to go with cold meats and salad. So this year I will be employing the big barbie and the Baby Q to do the meat. We made some Margaret Fulton recipe Christmas puddings a couple of weeks ago along with the same ladies recipe Christmas cake. The cake has been iced and the puddings are fermenting. There are a couple of ice creams mixed with fruit and/or brandy. At our place this year, every other year we go to Perth to one of our other sons. Looking forward to feeling really uncomfortable after a big tuck in. Merry Christmas.

Good grief! It's Taffs to the fore!
(Sez 'e, born at Llanfrechfa Grange, Monmouthshire - now, appropriately, a 'mental health facility' - and raised on the Northern coast of Sir Penfro in Trefdreath)

I'm anticipating joining the "orphans" on the Perth City foreshore for my dinner this year, so it'll be everything with all the trimmings.

Glorious gluttony, all of it.

Yeah I'm really good at planning things especially when after the tumult and the shouting has died and I start to hear suggestions as to how I could have done it better.... Then I can go into selfrighteous mode (like MIL) and say well YOU could have done it, but you told me to do it...
I'm waiting for G#1,2,3 to start hinting that during their holliday that I drive them down to see their sister G#6 at Berry when they could get one of their sydney daugters to drive them from Sydney 1.5 hrs as opposed to 3 from here.... I guess I'm just a soft touch....

most pressys have been "opened" many times by some very naughty children, by hell will they cop it when I get home

I hope Ellen was rolling her head from side to side when she said that., Speaking of Indians have you heard the recent heated discussion about the tram drivers in Melbourne. Apparently at Xmas they wear tinsel in their turbans and the Union finds it offensive....

Actually I enjoy Indian Food and as we speak I'm plotting an EVIL litttle plan to take the Geriatrics to a nice Indian joint here... They'll hate it, they won't know what it is, it has flavour, has not been in a bain maree for 2 days, Oh yes revenge is sweet.... That will get their bowels working insteasd of whinging that they can't go....
I'll make up some alfoil turbans, just so their minds can't be read....

Put the alfoil beanie on Ellen and your neurological condition will be fixed.

I'm with you Basil...............Indian food is GOOD!! I might even try Ellen's recipe...sounds good.  GET READY DAISY!!...........works for Mick!!

If revenge is your real motive........then don't put the alfoil beanies on them.......let them really suffer!! Who cares if you can see what they REALLY think of you......you already know. LOL
