Thought some of you fishermen would appreciate this true story.
BUNDY RUM (Bundaberg Rum)
Queensland's famous product!
Forget Jamacia or any other rubbish! For you over seas people: A King Brown is one of the deadliest snakes on earth.
Out of the top 10, Australia has 5.
I finally got around to going fishing this morning but after a while I ranout of worms.
Then I saw a King Brown with a frog in his mouth, and frogs are good bass bait. Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth,I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog and put it in my baitbucket.
Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. I grabbed my bottle of Bundaberg rum and poured a little rum in its mouth. His eyes rolled back, he went limp, I released him into the lake withoutincident, and carried on my fishing with the frog.
A little later I felt a nudge on my foot.
There was that same snake with two frogs in his mouth.

I'm with you on that Dave!! The amount of people who's personality completely changes after drinking the bloody stuff is astounding. I'm far from a "tea" lady, and am no prude, but I hate the stuff. I wonder if there is an ingredience in it that some have an allergic reaction to? Yeah Yeah I know!!!! but I'm serious!!! Hate it NEARLY as much as I hate SNAKES in general.
yep dont know what it is but the coppers here know about it and the ambo's, had a mate who got drunk on it once and all he wanted to do was fight, normally a good bloke before and after drinking!
not sure if it's a scietific fact or not, probably not!
Had a mate who had bad toothache and went on the Rum and Cloves, after a few this normally placid fellow jumps up on the pool table with cue in hand and told the whole room he'd take on anyone. I'm not like that I am allergic to pain.
I enjoy a rum now and then, prefer scotch but if I have too much of either I just want to be everbody's friend and then I just want to go to sleep.

This may well get me into a lot of trouble with other pirate folk seeing its about rum and my inability to drink it these days but its a story worth telling and listening too. PLEASE just dont tell any pirate folk you know about my sins. !
AS IT REALLY HAPPENED>
Seonau was invited to an all night party with the boys long ago in SYP land. He was the main guest... you see his dad owned the pub in the little town and seeing most of the boys were a little underage it made sense to invite the pirate.
Well armed with rum and other similars the party began and continued all night. I can recall most of the show, it remains one of the best parties this man ever attended.
It was the after effect that makes this true story so interesting.
You see the hotel owner, my Dad, was no fool. AND it was a country town after all. So Dad says to me on that Sunday morning Pete lets go, we have work to do. Being country a lot of the hotel produce was country made, including the roast chicken on the menu.
I am pretty sure we had 100 chicken to dress. There was a team of local farmers ready when we arrived. Dad was the hatchet man, (chop chop), Another was the gutz man ( he was ever so please when he found an egg on the inside) i was the feather boy. ( Dunk em in hot water and rip out the feathers)
I was sick for a week after, yep really the whole week. More...for 10 years at least i could not even stand to smell rum, it physically made me feel ill.
I learnt a lesson al right
Please dont tell any pirates about my plight. Less I change my name to
Peter the chicken plucker.sounds so sad.

Peter the Chicken Plucker.................has a REAL nice ring to it.......Know what I mean??
I have a bit of that problem with Scotch. Got really into one night.......went to sea next morning............and it was NOT pretty. One of only two times I have ever been seasick!! Haven't touched it since!!
I do love my Bundy though............I never get cranky on it.............just want to laugh and party.............but if I really get going.......I want to keep going and it takes me too long to get over it!!

im with you all there i cant stand the taste of rum , but i must say there is a chocolate rum you can buy from the rum distillery in bundy, friends of ours from beerwah bought us a bottle of it back when they went its absolutely yummy we drink it straight on ice and its smooooooooothhhhhh LOL :)
I drink my Bundy mixed with ginger beer or dry ginger, long before Dark & Stormy was put in a can. Now I've discovered Red Label Bundy, filtered through red gum - YUM! However getting drunk takes all the fun out of drinking, so I mix is fairly thin, and just savour the flavour. The Liquor Rum from the distillery is great on ice cream for dessert.
Now, about that duck plucker - oh, sorry, chicken plucker. Sounds painful for all involved. I'd love to know which pub, but I suppose that's classified info. The local peace keeper in Edithburgh now has to monitor the dry area which became law at 10pm on Saturday night, 09/09/10. It was a big night at the pub too, as I enjoyed a few "until-next-time" drinks with my daughter and some locals. Gave the bubble boy something to do. The locals love the Guy.
