Ruth Cracknell and Gary McDonald were just consumate actors! They had those roles of the dementing old lady driving her son nearly demented down pat. In fact they were so good I found that as a carer for people with Altzheimers, I couldnt laugh at it, it was too real to be funny. Still enjoyed it though.
And the part that was best was how the other son, the one who didnt do much to help, was the favourite! So true!!
What a great show! It never dates. I have seen alzheimer patients at their best in a Pt. Lincoln nursing home. They were introducing a dog to the residents as part of the "Pets As Therapy" programme. I, the media" was covering the story with a TV cameraman. It was a male labradoodle (lab/poodle cross). But very placid. As the dog made his way around the dining table everyone patted him, and he was give 12 different names that day. One lady called him Toby as she patted him. Another called him Rover, another said Spot etc, you get the idea. It was wonderful, yet sad, even funny in so many ways. But everyone responded to the dog which was the object of the exercise.

Hey Chris, That would be the matthew flinders complex in Oxford street and i believe the same dog is still there. I visit twice a year for work and there is a labrador still wandering around.
Then we have that Great Big Comedy theater in Canberra................Ah yes Parliament ,with Kev and the Merry Jesters.Tony Abbottwants to be known as "Tony Abbott",he reckons that Mr Abbott sounds a bit like Mr Rabbet............true story.Cheers.Ibbo.
Yes Gary and Kerry that's the one. If it wasn't so tragic it would have been funny. Dementia and Alzheimers are so cruel - to the family, not the patient. That was back in '95 I think, before I went to the Kimberleys. God! I suddenly feel very old, and yet my head is full of great memories of great experiences.
