No Photos

G'day,
I read earlier that some people were experiencing a problem with avatars not displaying, well all of a sudden I can no longer see any avatars or photo attachments but only on    http://www.activeboard.com/forum

Other fora I access I do not have a problem but on here I cannot even see photo's I have uploaded. If the photo is included in the text area so that it opens up and displays when the page is opened then I do not have a problem, the photo displays correctly.  This problem seems to be limited to Firefox and the GN's and ABB fora, if I use IE 8 then the Avatars and photo attachments are displayed without any problems.

Does any one have an answer to this problem?

Thanks Dave,
All works fine on IE8 but I do prefer Firefox, looks like I will either have to put up with it or change back to IE8.

Hope you have a great weekend down on the Cooryong, a wonderful part of Aussie.
John

Dave if I use Firefox on my daughter's account then all is well, so it would seem that something I have added to Firefox is causing the problem.  This problem only raised it's ugly head this morning on my account, I have tried a System Restore but that fails. It comes up with an error so something is affecting the System.  Looks like a long virus check coming up.

I'm using Firefox 3.0.16 without any problems. Be careful doing a system restore as any changes such as new programs installed or major updates could be affected.

G'day jimricho,

Thanks for the info, I have now resolved the issue by creating a new account and all works fine.

I believe a programme called Any DVD was the culprit in my case, it apparantly went ape**** and corrupted the account, how or why I do not know, it has run for the past 6 months without a hitch, but that is computers for you.

I now know why I have a number one haircut, it is so I can't pull it out when this computer which, like a lot of others has a mind of it's own, goes ape.

What put me on to creating a new account was trying Firefox on my daughter's account and all worked well there.

I think I will take up a nice relaxing, stress free hobby like swimming with maneating sharks or maybe some snapping handbags.

I cant see photos or avatars, they were there one day then nicked off and havent been seen since, I am running IE8, tried all the usual things in my toolbox like a kick to the side of the tower and thumping the control panel and hitting the keyboard so my technical knowledge is exhausted

I could see some piccys and avatars and not others.

NOW I'VE LOST THE BLOODY LOT!!!

Do you think deleting my account and starting again would fix anything?

Mind you up till a couple of days ago I could see ALL piccys and avatars.  I haven't changed anything or added anything or deleted anything. Gremlins in the works me thinks.

It's OK Terro.  You can get up off your knees now.  I'll put the kettle on.  Not quite the time for a coldie, but then it is beer o'clock somewhere in the world isn't it.

Ma that is music to my ears. Been working out in the garden which has had a week of neglect as we have been away. Time for a shower now and take the beautiful one out to lunch.

Terro.

Ma I did not delete the original account I simply created a new one and set everything up on that and all works well at the moment, but this is a computer we are talking about.  I had been able to see all the Avatar's and piccies since I joined in Feb '08, but yesterday they started to disappear one by one until all Avatar's and Piccies were invisible.  I put it down to a programme called ANY DVD because that one played up before but it didn't stop the pics, it simply stopped my computer from starting up.

If anyone has difficulty accessing and/or logging into the forum or the forum website is misbehaving itself it may be worth trying to access the forum directly by going to http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=51933 as this site is a"third party site".   That is, it is not part of the Grey Nomads website (technically) but a separate website.  If there is a difference in the way it behaves it may be due to your firewall settings. Also check your browser options as some firewalls and browsers can be set to not accept third party websites.   Note that this is a bit of a "long shot" but worth checking.  If it was ok before but not now this could still be worth checking as the difference may have occurred with an update or upgrade.... I had this happen a few months back.
