We headed off Friday afternoon for rapid bay with the new van and car. Anybody who knows the road to cape jervis will appreciate it is a challenging trip with lots of windy steep hills. I was a little bit disappointed in the way the new tug handled the conditions but thought maybes i was driving a little cautiously so on the way home drove a bit more aggressively and the tug performed heaps better. very happy with the van, a few little things I need to change but that is to be expected. the camp site at rapid bay as expected was very busy but surprisingly quite. Weather was a bit dodgy saturday morning but then cleard up and was very pleasant thereafter. have attached a few pictures of the van at the camp ground.
Good to see you are prepared for the , soon to eventuate showers of rain going by the pics, by dipping the end of your awning to run the water off. I have seen a vanner that had a funnel and pipe arrangement which caught the run-off and funneled it into his water tank.
Self sufficiency, love it.
Cheers Neil

Jealous as all getout. Looked at the humpback last January on our way through Port Wakefield. Spent about 2 hours there checking everything out. Very impressed.
Yep your right about Fridays weather.....went down Coorong.......ewwwwwwww.....it followed Us down there......bare ground no trees....bit stinky too...we headed for Kingston..but CP was full....so ended up at Black C.o.c.katoo Bush Camp again...
Thanks Davo............but I've done the south east to death.......today.went exploring up Williamstown way...Mt Crawford Conv Park area....already planning a weekend out Mannum way.end of April
If you're doing Mannum take the punt over the creek and check out the other side, Bow Hill and surrounding areas north and south. Might be a bit dry now, but I found that side of the river is different. You can also check out Swan Reach and districts. Enjoy wherever you go.

well what you should have done was to go on to Millicent then turn left and go to Mt Burr, a lot of free camps up through there then back through Penola and Naracoorte, great country!
or even head around through, oh never mind i spent 5 years down there driving log trucks for apcel, out of Mt Burr, it's one of my old stomping grounds, I was a keen duck shooter so I am aware of all the back country and drains
do you know what apcel stands for Ass Paper Cut Extra Long, stinking place! but they paid well

Coming into Mt Burr from the Millicent end there is lookout on the left, plenty of space to ON in.
